About CM Project Engineer/Assistant Project Manager

  Position summary: The Facilities/CM department is searching for a Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with: (1) providing construction project oversite using knowledge of design and construction methods and utilize industry Best Practices to interpret, organize, coordinate, communicate and execute assignments with limited supervision, (2) ensuring work is performed and completed in accordance to the contract documents, and (3) providing support to other team members, and (4) other tasks as may be assigned by the Project Manager/Supervisor.

  The annual salary range for this position is $65,000.00 - $80,000.00.

  Essential functions and responsibilities

  Assist with planning, scheduling and coordinating work throughout the various phases of the project. May be responsible for a portion of a large project or the entirety of a small to medium size project.

  Read and interpret construction documents such as drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, testing and inspection reports, maps, aerial photography, topographical surveys etc.

  Monitor project progress to ensure work is being provided in accordance with contract plans and specifications.

  Prepare reports and logs such as inspector daily reports, review, submittals, RFI’s, etc. and make recommendations on appropriateness

  Assist with reviewing construction cost budgets and estimates

  Assist in the assembling of documents for advertisement and procurement activities

  Manage project sub-consultants and in-house support disciplines

  Assist in preparation of proposals as required

  Attend various meetings, record and distribute meeting minutes

  Communicate and coordinate with team members to ensure project completion by the defined milestones and established quality guidelines

  Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies

  Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

  Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment

  Required Experience

  Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, architectural or a related field from an accredited engineering, construction management or architectural program

  0-5 years’ experience in a construction related discipline. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  Preferred Experience

  Knowledgeable with CPM scheduling. Experienced with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project is preferred

  Experience working with governmental agencies at the city, county and state levels

  Knowledgeable in construction testing and inspection requirements

  Working Conditions

  Work is performed in both an office and field (construction) environment. Office to field time is approximately 25% to 75% respectively. Field work requires climbing, walking and standing at a construction site and may be outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 50 lbs) may be required.
