  Job Description Summary

  • This position reports to the Regional Business Manager (RBM) and serves Diagnostic Solutions (DS) accounts within the designated region while collaboratively supporting US DS business goals. The Clinical Microbiology Specialist (CMS) is responsible for observing current clinical and laboratory practices, aligning best practice processes, and recommending appropriate BD solutions while driving clinical effectiveness and promoting measurable customer success. This is a field-based and customer facing position requiring excellent time management skills with up to 75% travel.

  Candidates should reside in Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan or Ohio.

  PRIMARY DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES:

  Fosters a continually evolving partnership between DS and our valued customers in a clinical process and solution advisory capacityMaintains relevant clinical knowledge and continually grows innovative expertise as diagnostic products/platforms evolveRecognizes customer needs and gaps, and identifies BD solution opportunities using pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical differentiatorsFacilitates multidisciplinary involvement within the healthcare setting to identify and engage key opinion leaders, influencers, and other stakeholders (nursing, laboratory, pharmacy, quality, infection prevention, clinicians) while identifying critical areas for improvementDelivers clinical and product presentations and collaboratively works with BD associates to drive business initiativesFacilitates project processes as appropriate using best practices and financial analysis to help achieve identifiable outcomesLeads and partners in change management discussions (clinical responsiveness, antimicrobial stewardship)Fosters on-going customer relationships to ensure continuous partnerships and quality enhancements through BD solutions

  KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  Customer Centricity:

  Strong foundational knowledge of clinical microbiology and laboratory diagnostics and relevancy to healthcare challenges and outcomes; Customer focused problem solving; Strong customer rapport with key opinion leaders; Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve organizational goals; Responsible for gaining and maintaining commitment for sustainable engagement, satisfaction, and outcomes; Ability to connect and collaborate across healthcare interdisciplinary teams

  Technical Expert:

  Strong laboratory medicine insight and/or clinical pharmacy knowledgeRegarded as a laboratory diagnostics OR pharmacy leader with strong clinical skills; Lean experience preferred; Ability to demonstrate analytical skills including critical thinking, problem solving, and resource optimization

  Strategic:

  Experience in collaborating with C-suite level leaders; Background in strategic planning and goal setting and how to operationalize initiatives

  Execution:

  Mastery in uncovering customer pain points, analyzing processes, and recommending best practices while aligning BD solutionsAbility to meet deadlines and business goals

  Communicator:

  Ability to communicate and set clear expectations across multiple disciplinary teamsExhibits high emotional intelligenceAbility to read, comprehend, and compose detailed instructions, business correspondence and memos; Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one or group setting using effective communication tools and techniques; Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications, including but not limited to Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook, and Teams

  EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  B.S. in clinical laboratory science or related degree and ASCP certification with preferred advanced degree OR a licensed clinical pharmacist; Strong clinical or laboratory leadership experience with direct reports OR effective leading without authority using change management tactics; Basic knowledge of Hospital and Laboratory IT (LIS data)Minimum of 3-5 years' experience preferredLean experience preferred
