  The Clinical Manager, Advisory Services will leverage clinical expertise paired with project management and business acumen to both lead day-to-day transformational engagements with healthcare provider engagements and provide specific subject matter expertise, where needed, to partnerships focused on access to care and medical group optimization. The Clinical Manager will support moderate-complexity engagements and will be responsible for determining the overall approach and structure of the engagement as well as creating key deliverables. The Clinical Manager will support projects primarily focused on access to care and medical group optimization but may also be asked to support traditional, strategic, and/or clinical revenue cycle projects based on business need.

  Primary Responsibilities:

  Serves as clinical consultant lead for key medical group and access engagements, with emphasis on clinical workflow redesign, care team model optimization, in basket management, access to care, and other clinical projects as needed Independently leads day-to-day activities for medium complexity consulting projects with healthcare provider clients across both diagnostic and implementation engagements Demonstrates sufficient executive presence to independently lead onsite presentations, including key client executive leadership sessions as well as ability to foster strong provider relationships Gathers needed data/information for the engagement and conduct appropriate analyses (e.g., cost/benefit analysis, benchmarking, requirements analysis, gap analysis); building Microsoft Excel models; and preparing operational and financial projections Leads information-gathering efforts, such as stakeholder interviews, focus groups, and/or process mapping onsite or virtual sessions Drives high levels of client satisfaction by driving results that meet or exceed the client's expectations Demonstrates strong relationship management skills and ability to handle challenging interpersonal situations Develops and present superior quality client deliverables Develops work plans for the engagement, as needed (e.g. project plans, communications plans, staffing plans, budgets), and obtain appropriate buy-in and approvals Manages engagement execution (e.g., status updates, reporting, risk management) and profitability, by managing successful project delivery within allotted project budget (managing billable hours utilized across the team) Ensures engagement quality through running to criticism with both team members and clients alike, regularly seeking proactive feedback and adjusting course as needed based on feedback provided Presents engagement deliverables to applicable stakeholders (e.g. presentations, blueprints, staffing analytics, diagnostic findings and recommendations) Prepares customized client recommendations to realize improvement opportunities identified based on industry best practices and emerging 'best-in-class' approaches and facilitate implementation of recommendations Applies knowledge of change management principles to drive implementation of engagement objectives Versed in change management, conflict resolution, collaboration and driving actions from multiple disparate teams Cultivates the client's perception of Optum as a trusted partner and strategic advisor (e.g., build credibility, demonstrate full understanding of their business, leverage other resources within OptumInsight) Contributes to practice-level initiatives including business development and thought leadership beyond client project work Stays current on important issues in the healthcare industry (e.g., political/ economic market forces, costs, capabilities, initiatives, legal/regulatory requirements) Shares professional and domain knowledge with peers and colleagues to build overall organization capabilities Effectively delegates project work to internal team members Coaches and mentors junior staff and provide development support and coaching in enabling junior staff to grow professionally and develop new skill sets Serves as people manager for 1-2 analyst or consultant staff

  Required Qualifications:

  U.S. Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with proven business acumen and experience in a physician practice setting leadership role (i.e. practice manager, clinical manager) 5+ years of experience in the following content areas: Medical group leadership, clinical workflow redesign, care team model optimization, provider capacity and schedule/template optimization, physician productivity optimization, provider compensation, contact center clinical functions (i.e. nurse triage, in basket management, prescription refill) 3+ years in a healthcare management or healthcare operational leadership role Experience working in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, Excel, Word) Overall understanding of high performing medical group operations and best practices Demonstrated ability to independently lead and motivate cross-functional teams Demonstrated ability to drill down to the root cause of client challenges and deploy creative problem solving Proven exceptional written and verbal communication skills Willingness to travel to client onsites (up to 70%, as needed)

  Preferred Qualifications:

  Relevant Advanced Degree (MBA/MPH/MHA) Professional consulting experience, preferably in medical group and/or access to care optimization focused capacity Experience managing projects that achieved budget and timeline goals Experience mentoring junior level staff Proven solid critical thinking, relationship building, and storytelling skills

  California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island or Washington residents is $101,200 to $184,000 per year. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
