UW Medical Center – Northwest – ITA Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Clinical Court Evaluator to join us in our new Center for Behavioral Health and Learning building. WORK SCHEDULE
40 hours per week

Further your career at a one-of-a-kind behavioral health facility DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The ITA Department provides forensic behavioral health services to patients at the Center for Behavioral Health and Learning and at the UW Medical Center - Northwest and Montlake campuses who are going through the involuntary treatment act (ITA) process. This includes patients admitted to the Emergency Department (ED) and medical units on the UW Medical Center - Northwest and Montlake campuses.
ABOUT THE CENTER FOR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND LEARNING The new Center for Behavioral Health and Learning , opening on the UW Medical Center – Northwest campus in 2024, offers an unparalleled opportunity to transform mental health care and to improve mental health care training in our state. Located in North Seattle, the new facility will feature 75 longer-term adult psychiatry beds, 25 geriatric psychiatry beds, 50 medical/surgical beds focused on patients with psychiatric comorbidities, and a state-of-the-art neuromodulation program. It will also house an interdisciplinary training and workforce development program focused on preparing and supporting the next generation of behavioral health providers for Washington State. The six-story building will be a beautiful place to work with lots of windows, natural lighting and open-concept spaces and will offer amenities including a new kitchen and dining area for patients, staff and visitors.

Evaluate patients who are scheduled for King County ITA Court
Complete clinical and legal documentation in the required time lines
When video court and/or telehealth is not available or appropriate, travel between the Center for Behavioral Health and Learning and UW Medical Center – Montlake
Represent UW Medical Center at King County ITA Court, including testifying as an expert witness in ITA court hearings and also serving as proxy witness
Educate the interdisciplinary team on the ITA process
Act as a resource for questions regarding the ITA process and involuntary behavioral health treatment
Coordinate with the assigned prosecuting attorney and other involved court parties to support the patient’s treatment plan and to support successful testimony in ITA court
Attend treatment team, utilization review, quality improvement and other meetings as requested/required. Attend scheduled ITA stakeholder meetings REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced Degree as required by specialty
Licensed as a psychologist, advanced registered nurse practitioner, mental health counselor or independent clinical social worker in the State of Washington
2-5 years recent experience working with acutely ill psychiatric patients specifically involving evaluation of psychiatric safety, level of function, psychiatric diagnoses, and medications
Two years of recent experience working in a hospital setting is preferred
Expertise with the Washington Involuntary Treatment Act (RCW 71.05)
Maintains a valid Washington Driver’s License and a clean driving record
Compliance with your professional Code of Ethics is required.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements.
