DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:We are looking for a Junior Civil or Environmental Engineer with 0 to 5 years of experience to work within proximity to either of our Pittsburgh, Houston, Virginia Beach or Merritt Island offices. This is a hybrid (work from home and Tetra Tech office) position. The ideal candidate must have strong quantitative skillsets to support various projects in the United States from conceptual planning through to design and construction. This position will work closely with project managers, engineers, and scientists to support a variety of public (federal, state, local) and private (industrial, utility) clients with general civil and environmental system design, remedial investigations, remedial alternatives evaluations, remedial actions, and wide range of various civil/environmental projects. The successful candidate will work as a team member to support routine and non-routine assignments related to civil/environmental projects of substantial variety and complexity.

Candidate will plan, conduct, and supervise field tasks such as air, soil, sediment, surface water, and groundwater sampling, pilot tests and treatability studies, engineering designs, construction oversight, operation and maintenance (O&M), and report writing. They will perform civil components of projects in accordance with RCRA, CERCLA, TSCA, UST, CWA and other appropriate state and federal regulations. This will require reviews of progress and evaluation of results. The candidate will prepare, develop, and assist in the preparation of proposals and deliverables.
Your Role :* Basic understanding of the following areas of civil engineering: site grading and earthworks design, soil mechanics, hydrology, hydraulics, pumps and piping systems, geochemistry, site closure, cover designs using soil and/or geosynthetics, cost estimation, sampling, environmental regulations, remediation, and environmental investigations and remediation.* Conduct research related to engineering policies and practices.* Perform a range of tasks requiring utilization of advanced scientific, geologic, and engineering analytical techniques, including: (1) interpretation of complex hydrogeologic settings; and (2) development of cost-effective remedial strategies.* Work/coordinate with project team personnel. Perform technical functions on projects and possibly direct the technical efforts and provide guidance on engineering, and construction projects, including CADD/GIS operators, designers, technicians, and field personnel.* Conduct engineering related calculations and develop solutions for various engineering and environmental projects.* Conduct data analysis and data quality control of civil design data using sound engineering judgement.* Assist with quality control and assurance.* Assist in preparing work plans, subcontract specifications, remedial investigation reports, performance monitoring reports, long-term monitoring reports, sampling plans, and cost estimates.* Assist in developing descriptive charts, figures/maps, tables/matrices, and presentations.* Participate in functions involving contact with client representatives, including virtual and in-person presentations to the client and regulatory agencies.* Develop an entrepreneurial spirit, working independently to advance project initiatives.* Adhere to rigorous schedules for completing field tasks and reports. Maintain detailed documentation of field activities. Field work often involves extended hours on site.* Conduct field investigation, subcontractor management/oversight, and construction oversight of civil and environmental projects that include contaminated sites, landfills, industrial facilities, etc.
Qualifications:* Candidate must have a B.S. degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.* Zero to five years minimum of experie ce in engineering field.* Demonstrated educational and relevant work experience showing strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.* Candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver's license in excellent standing within the company standards.* Candidates must be highly motivated, self-starters that want to establish a career in civil and environmental consulting.* Engineer in Training (EIT/FE) is preferred, working towards a Professional Engineer (PE) License.* 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and current 8-hour refresher training is preferred.
