Job summary: The Caterpillar Aftertreatment and Exhaust Solutions Chief Engineer is the owner of the Aftertreatment product and technology strategy, intellectual property development, and product development excellence. Key responsibilities are: Aligning the product strategy with customer needs, leading New Technology Introduction (NTI) projects, providing coaching and oversight to ensure rigorous product development standards are met throughout the organization, and creating opportunities and environment for learning and continuous improvement. This role is a member of the leadership team reporting directly to the Senior Product Manager.
What you will do:
Develop and maintain the Aftertreatment product and technology strategy in partnership with the product engineering team and customers. Ensure alignment with annual goals and budget.
Defend and grow the Aftertreatment intellectual property portfolio.
Establish, monitor and drive New Technology and intellectual property departmental goals in support of overall company objectives.
Motivate and develop the product engineering team; directing learning and development programs for all engineering staff
Actively engage in current product activities to ensure safety, quality, and performance needs are met.
Serve as a member of senior management and contribute to decision-making processes for the company's business.
Skills you must have:
Extensive experience in engine component design, and development through multiple New Technology Introduction (NTI) and New Product Introduction (NPI) programs. Demonstrated achievement in product innovation, product development excellence, and engineering leadership.
Risk Management : Knowledge of processes, tools, and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization's exposure to risks of various kinds; ability to apply knowledge of risk management appropriately to diverse situations.
Collaboration : Knowledge of how to lead and support cross-functional teams and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
Problem Solving : Knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving product, process, operational, and organizational problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations. Demonstrates intellectual curiosity.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking : Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Sustainability : Knowledge of sustainability strategies; ability to integrate sustainability into the overall business strategy of the organization to build a sustainable business model.
Education and Work Experience : Minimum 15 years relevant experience and 4-year Bachelors of Science (Engineering) degree

Engine system performance development experience
Structural design / validation experience
