Job Description
Our East Syracuse, NY laboratory is looking for a Chemist to join their HPLC team! The Chemist prepares and analyzes samples with accuracy and precision in accordance to SGS' analytical SOPs. The Chemist works independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. The Chemist understands and applies basic analytical chemistry principles. The Chemist always follows safe laboratory practices and maintains a safe working environment.
Job Functions
Performs analyses on samples of different complexity (routine, moderate complexity and complex) according to SGS' analytical SOPs using instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologiesPerforms routine operation, maintenance, calibration, and trouble-shoots laboratory instruments / equipment.Develops and validates analytical methods, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other operating, safety and quality documents for method development, transfer, and validation studies.Provides technical training, advice and support to Analysts in data analysis.Leads investigation, and preparation of responses to client inquiries and CAPs.Provides technical support to Marketing, Sales, Customer Service and clients regarding testing, reporting or technical inquiries.Inputs and maintains technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a science field (Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, etc.) (Required)5 years of relevant lab experience (Required)1 year of method development and troubleshooting experience (Required)GC experience (Required)Advanced English language skills (Required)Strong mathematical and reasoning skills (Required)Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) (Required) Experience working with LIMS (Preferred)Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required)This hourly rate for this position is $25 - $30 per hour (dependent on experience). This position is eligible for overtime pay.
