General Job Description
Dogwood Industries is seeking a CWI at our Factory in Sedro-Woolley, WA. The core mission of the CWI is to execute quality assurance plans for fabrication of steel structures. The CWI is an integral part of the production team and is required to have comprehensive knowledge in its required department. This position works closely with the Quality Control Manager to meet and exceed our customers' quality needs. The majority of this role and job functions will be related to the daily processes of performing quality control and creating related reports.
Duties & Responsibilities
Implement inspection while executing and documenting specific test plansEnsure that welding team members are qualified in conformance to the applicable standards and are re-qualified as required to use the specified proceduresPerform and document weld procedure specifications and welder operator qualification testsIdentify defective or non-conforming workPerform incoming material inspections and vendor inspections when requiredCreate and maintain quality control records, documents and logs using electronic record keeping to the greatest extent practicalMaintain and distribute accurate drawings and red line correctionsMaintain an expectation of quality, safety and urgency to achieve excellent production outcomesRead work instructions and/or drawings to interpret and confirm production requirementsVerify that materials and consumables are in conformance to specificationsVerify that equipment utilized is appropriate for the work in production, is properly calibrated and meets the requirements of the applicable procedureUtilize precision measuring instruments as required to evaluate the workIssue reports and track resolution of non-conforming conditionsPerform first article, visual and dimensional checks at all stages of production
Qualifications
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification5+ years' of Quality Control experience with emphasis in Welding OperationsExperience in steel fabrication or general constructionHigh school diploma, general education degree or vocational degreeKnowledge of fixtures and weld set up parameters such as amps, volts, etc.Previous experience in quality assuranceAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and shop drawingsFamiliarity with AWS D1.1 weld inspectionFluency in English with excellent written and oral communication skillsProficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat
Compensation
$31.00 - $46.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
