ID209411Job TypeFull-timeTesla participates in the E-Verify ProgramWhat to ExpectThe Supercharger DesignLead seeks to realize and improve customer experience, efficiencies and costoptimizations for all phases prior to construction of Tesla's Superchargerprojects including feasibility, layout, design and permitting. The idealcandidate has solid hands-on experience managing infrastructure projects,demonstrates clear-headed problem solving, and has the skills to workcollaboratively with internal business units and externally with vendors andstakeholders. This Role is imperative in ensuring the Supercharger Deploymentfeedback loop is complete, such that feedback from Tesla's Design Managers andDesign Partners makes its way into future site and product designs. The DesignLead provides the team with region specific design solutions that help tooptimize the installation process and ramp up site development. Finally, the DesignLead has a growth mindset, while also realizing the importance of implementingefficiencies in the design / permitting process and cost optimizations alongthe way. This includes a forward-looking approach to new developments in thefield of charging infrastructure and site development.What You'll DoDefine and implement preferred site designs in conjunction with the regional Design Managers and the global Supercharger design community. Further standardize site layouts to optimize cost and enhance the user experienceSupport the region in defining permitting need and successful permitting approaches with special focus on complex indoor and outdoor installationsContribute to the look and feel of our sites to enhance the customer experience in a cost-conscious way (lighting, waste management, beautification)Balance cost and qualitative benefits of internal design pathways compared to external architects and engineersCreate and uphold a continent-wide source of truth for all deployment related processes, products, and practicesHelp with onboarding and providing continued learning opportunities for Supercharger Deployment and Acquisition teamsPilot different products, processes, etc. that might lead to design efficiencies and cost optimizationsTravel as needed to accomplish the above goals (20-50% travel)Directly design 1 - 4 projects on-going to keep in touch with the workTrain and support new hires to enable them to create their own drawings and sketchesWhat You'll Bring10 - 15 years' experience in architectural and engineeringdesign, construction, site management, program management, or infrastructurerolloutsSuperb organizational skills with strong multi-taskingabilitiesImpeccable communication skills, both writing and speaking- ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of individualsExperience and proven ability to operate and thrive withinmatrix management structuresHighly structured, with affinity for productivity andquality20%-50% travel based on business needsHighly energetic personality with an ability to functionautonomously in a fast-paced environment with changing prioritiesExperience in building permits and design is requiredExperience in product/component design and release isdesirable, but not requiredAn Engineering or other technical degree is desirable, butnot requiredCompensation and BenefitsBenefitsAlong with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire:Aetna PPO and HSA plans > 2 medical plan options with $0 payroll deductionFamily-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefitsDental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contributionCompany Pai
