Position Summary:
The Medical Assistant/Receptionist performs delegated medical functionsunder the direction of the Outpatient Clinics Director in the deliveryof care for all assigned patient populations, in accordance with allpolicy, procedure and practice guidelines. The Medical Assistant alsoperforms administrative support functions and may be the first contactfor patients of the Outpatient Clinics.
The Medical Assistant/Receptionist prepares examining areas and patientsfor examination by the health care provider. Records patients medicalhistory and other relevant data. Assists the health care provider withpatient examinations and minor surgical procedures. May administerinjections or give treatments under direction. Schedules or performsclinics procedures as directed by the health care provider. Additionaladministrative support functions.
Required Qualifications:
Must be at least18 years of age.Proof of highest level of education completed but not less than highschool education or equivalent.Current Medical Assistant certificationCurrent Arizona Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearancecard (new hires must also complete the application process for thiscard before being released to their department).Maintains current CPR Certification from the American HeartAssociation (Healthcare Provider) or other approved educationalprograms.Must be able to perform VFC ordering, documentation and management.Must be comfortable with giving immunizations and performvenipuncture.Must have experience in documenting in AIISIS.Must have experience in obtaining prior authorizations formedications.Must be pleasant and comfortable with making patient calls forfollow up appointments and results.Must be able to perform EKG and assist with procedures such aslesion removal, etc.Must be able to perform in office testing (strep/urine dipsticks,UDS, Breath Alcohol)Must be a self-starter, not requiring direction or micro-management.Must be familiar with medical terminology.Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form.An understanding of computer systems, process design and datamanagement.Must have a well-groomed, professional appearance.Must have the mental and physical ability to perform, with orwithout reasonable accommodation, the essential functions of thejob.Ability to lift, carry, pull, & push 50 pounds.Language proficiency in English, with excellent written and verbalfluency.Preferred Qualifications:
At least one-year experience in a high volume family practice.Previous Meditech experience or other related electronic recordssystems.
