  Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Notice of Result letters will not be sent to applicants who respond to this flyer. Responsibilities You will determine the tools, machinery, and equipment needed to complete carpentry work projects. You will use wood or wood substitutes to construct structural items (e.g., building frames, rafters, concrete forms, walls, staircases). You will plan and lay out carpentry work in accordance with drawings, sketches, blueprints, or building codes. You will repair wood items or wood substitute items (e.g., framework, trusses, rafters) to maintain functionality. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Work independently performing the full range of journey level Masonry and carpentry tasks in the construction and repair of a wide range of facilities as described in the position description. Has a thorough knowledge of all safety requirements to erect staging scaffolding and work platforms. Can obtain certification for installation of scaffolding. Determines and uses special precautionary techniques, personal protective equipment (PPE), fall protection equipment. Able to construct and finish all types masonry (brick, block, stones and concrete). Must have knowledge and ability to operate masonry power and tools, such as jackhammers, demolition tools, magnesium floats, edger, joiner, and bull floats. Able to install and finish sheet rock walls. Can building concrete forms. Installs doors and windows. Knowledge of various types of structural building materials and laminates. Must be able to work with fiberglass building insulation to insulate attics and stud walls. Must have knowledge and ability to operate carpentry power and hand tools, and shop tools. This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD/Modified direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees. A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized. Several vacancies may be filled. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Moderate lifting up to 40 pounds is required. If a heavier lift is required, it must not be attempted without assistance. Must be able to work at a rapid pace for a short period of time. Occasionally required to perform work by standing, stooping, bending and reaching while in cramped and uncomfortable positions and by walking, kneeling, crouching and crawling. Must be able to climb ladders and scaffolds to perform work at various heights. Normal vision is required. WORKING CONDITIONS: Some work is performed outside and may require exposure to prevailing weather conditions. Working conditions in this position vary with a portion performed in a relatively pleasant surroundings and a portion performed on rooftops, in equipment rooms, under building and confined spaces. Subject to perform work in areas with high noise levels where ear protection is required. Working in very hot and cold environments, poorly ventilated and lighted areas is occasionally required and in some instances work in these conditions is for the duration of the shift. The incumbent may be exposed to fumes, dust, saw dust, dirt, grease and oil, and is subject to the possibility of scrapes, cuts, bruises, contusions, burns, electrical shock and eye hazards. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
