Scope:Cardiovascular Sonographer / Echocardiology Technologist responsibilities:Perform a variety of Ultrasound procedures that utilize high frequency soundwaves to evaluate internal organs and vessels for the diagnosis of disease.Prepare exam room. Obtain informed consent, and request an accurate clinicalhistory as necessary for the exam. Review patient history and determine properselection of protocols. Explain method of examination and position patient.Assess the patient's status and needs, complete appropriate diagnostictechniques/tests to ascertain patient's on-going condition, and performthe necessary interventions.Review and evaluate completed tests for quality, completeness, and type oftest ordered. Ensure quality images. Coordinate the preparation ofimages/exams and needed documentation for physician partners.Document and communicate patient related information thoroughly andaccurately. Inform patient of physician's instructions or ancillarycaregiver's observations or concerns and take same into consideration inproviding appropriate care. Meet the needs of the patient, family andmulti-disciplinary team through effective communication, coordination anddocumentation ensuring safety, care, courtesy and efficiency. Ensure safeand effective hand off between shifts by communicating clearly with oncomingshMonitor equipment reliability and safety. Report issues and/or repairs orservice due. Order and stock supplies, clean rooms, and equipment tomaintain work environment. Transport patients as needed.Actively participate in quality initiatives, including patientsatisfaction, patient care, and workflow.
Requirements:High School Diploma or equivalent, requiredCurrent American Registry of Radiologic Technology ARRT (S) or ARDMSregistry, requiredCurrent Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) and RegisteredCardiac Sonographer (RCS), requiredCurrent BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association, requiredAssociate's Degree, preferredAt least one (1) year of ultrasound experience in a hospitalenvironment, highly preferred
