Performs advanced systems administration work in support of TxDOT District/Division information technology systems. Work involves the testing, configuration, and maintaining the reliable operation of systems. Troubleshoots, installs, and upgrades hardware and software systems. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Essential Duties:Coordinates, plans, and schedules the installation of new or revised systems and defines business process requirements.trains others as needed.Determines operational, technical and system requirements for the location, installation, operation and maintenance ofdata processing, data communication, system software and hardware.Analyzes user requirements and makes recommendations on software and the efficient use of information systems.Installs, maintains, moves IT systems, and assists in testing and upgrading new and existing hardware and software.Reviews and provides recommendations regarding the procurement of information technology equipment and software for thedepartment/division.Tests and diagnoses systems to ensure critical requirements are met.Monitors and collects information to determine the strength, weaknesses and performance issues of existing technology.Installs, maintains, and performs minor repairs to hardware, software, or information resources equipment.Prepares briefings, reports, and evaluations on systems efficiency and utilization.Configures automation routines using scripting and other programming languages.Maintains workstation/server data integrity by using appropriate software and hardware solutions; implements a schedule of backups for data archiving.Coordinates, plans, and schedules the installation of new or revised systems and defines business process requirements; trains others as needed.Determines operational, technical and system requirements for the location, installation, operation and maintenance of data processing, data communication, system software and hardware.Oversees and provides guidance in troubleshooting and solving complex problems related to system software and hardware problems, and in processing service requests and tasks.Coordinates the development and maintains operating procedures for technical support, troubleshooting, maintenance, and systems administration techniques.Provides technical assistance and support for applications/hardware problems.Oversees and provides guidance in troubleshooting and resolving software and hardware systems related problems.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
