DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Business Occupations Teacher for the Department of Corrections, you will be responsible for teaching all business classes to inmates so they can develop skills which would provide the opportunity to work in a business environment upon release. Classes include Business Law, Accounting, Introduction to Computers, Office Procedures, Business Math, and Financial Record Keeping. You will be responsible for teaching all instructional curriculum components for International Computer Driving License (ICDL) and, Money Smart, and programs such as Word, Access, Excel and Power Point.
You will maintain records of students including daily observations, lesson completion, attendance, student payroll records for Teachers Aide program reports, and lesson plans where applicable. You will develop Individualized Plans of Instruction (IPI) for students based on a variety of objectives and goals of the student.

QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in business, education, business education, or a related business education field, which included or is supplemented by successful completion of either student teaching or a teaching practicum, in a business-related subject approved by the degree granting institution or one year of classroom instruction experience in a business-related subject.Special Requirements:
This position is assigned to a Commonwealth Secondary Diploma facility. Employees assigned to a Commonwealth Secondary Diploma facility must possess a valid and active Instructional 1 or 2 certification in Business Computer Information and Technology (BCIT) or Business Education (Accounting, Data Processing, Marketing, Office Technology, Secretarial or Typewriting) issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. When no candidates possess the named certifications, the candidate must be eligible for an Emergency Permit issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education that is appropriate to the position.An employee assigned to a Commonwealth Secondary Diploma facility who was hired based on eligibility for an Emergency Permit must obtain a valid and active Instructional Level 1 or 2 certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.Other Requirements:
