Develop and test the implementation of Business Intelligence (BI) and Analytic reports, dashboards, and other supported applications based on business need and prioritization. Partner with the BI Architect, BI Business Analysts, and other OD Technology resources to deliver complex, well performing, stable and visually appealing Reports and Dashboards.
Primary Responsibilities
Write Information Builder WebFOCUS code to create procedures, “Focus Execs” (Fexes), and accompanying HTML and Java Script using Information Builders “App Studio”, “Portal Designer” and related tools to generate SQL that compiles report data from multiple database platforms
Collaborate with Business Analysts and end users to ensure that data and reports fulfill business needs
Review and accept/approve functional design specifications for new development and major enhancements and recommend designs well suited to WebFOCUS development and ODFL standards
Understand, follow, and participate in the creation of OD Business Intelligence and Analytics design standards and best practices
Partner with system and application database administrators develop the data structures (indexes, views, stored procedures, etc.) to deliver well-performing report queries
Work with UI/UX designers and business intelligence developers to create interfaces that satisfy requirements and adhere to accepted design standards
Support Business Analysts and testing team to maintain functional test cases and scenarios, and support the development and maintenance of automated test scripts for load and regression testing
Review and remediate defects resulting from regression and load testing
Participate in the change management process by ensuring that documented processes are being followed
Attend weekly update meetings
Perform application design and code reviews
Stay current on emerging technologies and make improvement recommendations
Job Qualifications
Education:
Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent education and experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
Experience:
3+ years of WebFOCUS development or 1 year of WebFOCUS experience and 2 years of experience developing Business Intelligence reports with a similar product suite (MicroStrategy, Cognos, SAP Business Objects)
Expert knowledge of Information Builder WebFOCUS design and development
Expert level SQL skills and a thorough understanding of report and dashboard design, and good Data Visualization skills
Working knowledge of Business Intelligence design and development
General SQL skills across multiple database platforms
Demonstrated Java, JQuery, and Java Script development skills
Working knowledge of Data Modeling and Data Warehousing
Experience in report or dashboard design and end-user support
Experience with PC tools including Visio, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Detail oriented, problem solver
Ability to work as a team player
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
Strong interpersonal skills
Experience across multiple BI toolsets and implementations preferred
Experience with Quality Center, ALM or similar testing tools preferred
Experience with agile software development preferred
