JOB DESCRIPTIONSummary/Objective: Responsible for operating a school transportationvehicle over an assigned route abiding by all rules and regulations for thesafety of the passengers as set forth by the district, state and federalgovernment agencies.
Essential Functions:Responsible for operating a transportation vehicle over a scheduled route asdirected.Performs a pre-trip inspection assuring that all equipment, including safetydevices, is in a safe and proper operating order.Maintains and promotes a professional and defensive driving attitude at alltimes.Responsible for maintaining proper student behavior as required to transportpassengers safely.Reports immediately (by radio or telephone) any emergencies, breakdownsor delays while en-route including student discipline problems.Responsible for reporting all accidents, driving hazards and incidents ofdamage or vandalism as soon as possible.Prepares and submits daily report.Responsible for the interior and exterior cleanliness of the transportationvehicle.May be requested to do night driving, weekend driving and special daytimetrips.May be requested to drive athletic, activity and special trips as assignedby the supervisor.Ability to sit for long periods of time, numerous distractions, visual,auditory and ambulatory acuity important.Ability to move quickly from one position to another in response to studentneeds and upper body strength with the ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
Additional Qualifications: Applicant mu t have the ability to effectivelyrelate in a positive manner with staff, students and the public; abilityto perform all functions of the position.
