POSITION SUMMARY The Brake Press Operator reads and follows detailed blueprints and schematics to bend sheets of metal. This position requires the lifting of metal sheets into machines to shear and bend to make bodies, hose bed covers, and other parts, as necessary. They must also ensure that bend meets angle grade and other specifications of the build. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS All employees are required to support Rosenbauer s Mission, Vision, and Values. Lifts metal sheets into machines to make bodies, hose bed covers, and other parts, as necessary. Reads and understands body prints, paper, and CAD. Ensures that bend meets angle grade and other specifications of the build. Sets up and operates fabricating machines such as brakes, timesaver, shears, and drill presses. Loads completed work in opposite order of specifications for the next department in a dedicated cart to be moved. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by the supervisor to meet the needs of the company and our members WORKING CONDITIONS This position is in a general shop where different tasks are completed and has access to all welfare facilities. In some cases, the temperature can be warmer or colder depending on the season, and the temperature can vary with the shop doors being opened during the winter season. There is no AC located in the shop, so the summers can often times be very warm and humid. There is also constant noise with all the machines that are used inside the shop causing limitations in hearing. Besides noise, some of the machines produce vibrations when being used. Most of the hazards come from machines but following proper procedures should minimize risk. There is also constant dust and other airborne particles being produced by the laser and plasma machines. This position may require working in confined spaces, causing limitations to movement. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position requires standing, walking, and the use of hands for the entire shift. It can become very loud in the shop with many machines being used at once. With constant noise, talking or hearing can be difficult. During shifts, some projects require the use of feet, legs, arms, and hands for over 60 minutes at a time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus, and good depth perception. This position may require the ability to climb inside, outside, and underneath the entirety of the truck. All positions require the ability to lift 50 pounds.
