Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Intern to join our Biotherapeutics department located at our Ridgefield, CT facility. As an Intern, you will join the Biotherapeutics department and work on a project that leverages digital tools and platforms to enhance the efficiency and quality of biotherapeutic research. You will have the opportunity to learn from experienced scientists and engineers and contribute to the digital transformation strategy of the department. You will also gain exposure to the diverse and exciting portfolio of biotherapeutic modalities, such as antibodies, proteins, and gene therapies in support of new biological entities (NBEs) for BI's worldwide development pipeline. Duties & Responsibilities
• Work on a project that applies digital solutions to a specific challenge or opportunity in biotherapeutic research, such as data management, analysis, visualization, automation, or integration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams of scientists, engineers, and IT specialists to define the project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
• Develop and maintain web applications using Django/Flask framework.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new
features.
• Work on bug fixing and improving application performance.
• Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain a high-quality code culture.
• Document and communicate the project results, outcomes, and recommendations to relevant stakeholders and audiences.
Requirements
• Currently enrolled in Bachelor's or Master's degree in bioinformatics, computer science, engineering, or a related field preferred
• Demonstrated interest and experience in applying digital technologies to life sciences, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical research.
• Proven experience as a Django/Flask developer.
• Strong understanding of the Python programming language.
• Knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
• Familiarity with front-end languages (e.g. HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
• Experience with Kubernetes is a plus.
• Familiar with data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles and practices.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Curious, creative, and eager to learn and innovate.
Compensation Data
