CACI has an exciting opportunity for an Azure Cloud Operations Engineer to join our program supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The Azure Cloud Operations Engineer will be responsible for supporting Azure cloud application IaaS systems including operations & maintenance of Windows and Linux server operating systems.
Location: Springfield, VA (remote but requires occasional customer site visits)
About the Role:
Engineer, install, maintain, configure, and optimize server operating systems (Windows and Linux) and hosted applications hosted in Azure cloud environment
Perform analysis for collaboration of network / system needs and participate in planning, designing, upgrading and deployment using a project-based timeline
Apply appropriate security measures to properly safeguard government systems by implementing industry standard best practices and DHS mandated mitigations
Support the distribution of security patches using tools such as Azure Update Management and Yum server
Manage and maintain virtual server images according to NIST STIG standards
Participate in on-call rotation to handle and resolve high severity technical escalations
Design, build, test and deploy highly scalable and resilient cloud-based applications on private and public clouds
Designing and implementing appropriate environments for those applications, engineer suitable release management procedures and provide production support
Influencing other teams and broader Engineering groups in adopting Cloud technologies, processes, and best practices
Redesigning legacy applications for Cloud implementation
Automating maintenance processes and provisioning of environments with Chef, Puppet, Ansible
Troubleshooting problems, involving the appropriate resources and driving resolution of issues with a focus on minimizing impact to our clients
Participating in the Agile DevOps design, development, testing, and release of new capabilities and features
Providing guidance for adhering to best practices for optimal and secure use of cloud technologies.
Assisting development teams in migrating their products from on-prem infrastructure to Azure
Working with other Cloud Solutions Engineers to develop prototypes and enhance or expand fundamental capabilities offered in the PaaS and containerized or serverless workloads
Participating in daily stand-up meetings and scrums to report your accomplishments, plans for the day, and any roadblocks you encountered
Driving improvements to processes and design enhancements to automation to continuously improve the production environment
Prepare, participate, present in Change Management process, Technical Review Board, and Change Control Board
Document all work and updates in Service Now, JIRA, Confluence
Document standard operating procedures (SOP), work instructions, guides, network diagrams, knowledge base articles
Required Qualifications:
Ability to obtain a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Entry on Duty (EOD)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent + 9 years of applicable experience
3+ years of Azure cloud support experience in a production environment including network, security, deployment, and automation
At least one Microsoft Azure cloud certification
3+ years supporting operating systems (Microsoft Server and Redhat Linux) and applications in a production environment including scripting
Experience with Azure native automation tool (Azure Resource Manager) and automation for application deployment and delivery using the Azure DevOps Services
Experience collaborating across multiple functional/technical teams to deliver a project
Provide on-call support for emergencies
Ability to communicate with client on a business level and translate their needs into a technical solution
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in interpersonal and written formats
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous DHS experience
Review and address vulnerabilities with Nessus scans
ISVMs reviews - Tenable, Nessus scans reviews, & research such as CVE/KVE
ServiceNow and JIRA experience
Experience with Deployment Management tools such as Chef, Ansible or Puppet
Knowledge of commonly used AWS services, such as IAM, VPC, CloudWatch and CloudTrail, Route 53, RDS, SSM and Lambda.
Experience working with Agile Development practices.
Knowledge of IT strategy and management desirable.
Experience in technology delivery in a DevOps environment
