Paraeducator Supplemental Programs (AVID program) AVID: Advancement via Individual Determination: A College and Career Readiness Program Part-Time - 2 positions - approx 5 hours a week; 9/18/23 thru 5/13/24 Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday; 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm Locations: Northdale Middle AVID Para will tutor/guide students toward academic and personal excellence that will reach beyond their secondary school years. Duties: Prepare students to sucessfully attend college and/or prepare for a career. Assist in the classroom with small study groups of middle and/or high school students to support them and provide basic direction and guidance in the areas of Math or Science or English or Writing or Social Studies. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Must be physically working in the building. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff. Ability to supervise students. Ability to take direction. Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day. Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds. Ability to perform position responsibilities including physical factors, work devices and materials handling, data functions, and people functions. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with diverse student and/or population preferred. Enjoy working with middle and high school aged students preferred. Ability to motivate and encourage students to reach post-secondary educational goals preferred. Desire to make a positive impact for students preferred.
