Where the chemistry happens…
Residue Analytics is business-critical in the development, expansion, and maintenance of our global and regional crop protection products portfolio – short- and long-term. This role focuses on the development, validation and conduct of residue analytical methods to quantify the levels of pesticides and transformation products in plant, animal commodities as well as environmental matrices, to ensure the safety of our products for consumers, the environment, and wildlife.
We have seen that automation of these methods for routine sample analysis is highly beneficial, and are seeking someone to lead this activity.
As a Automation Scientist - Residue Analytics, You Create Chemistry By...
• Developing and validating analytical methods for small molecule pesticides/metabolites in a variety of agriculturally relevant matrices
• Adapting existing methods or developing new ones to be either completely or partially automated
• Acting as a Study Director/Principal Investigator for various studies conducted by the team
• Working independently in a fast-paced multidisciplinary research team, that must ultimately interface constructively with many internal and external stakeholders
• Functioning successfully in a GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) environment, including working collaboratively with the Quality Assurance Unit (QAU).
• Supervising the work of more junior scientists and contingent employees

Education
• Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Residue Analysis or related discipline
• PhD degree and 4+ years of relevant experience or Master’s degree and 6+ years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant experience
Experience
• Minimum 3 years of experience in preparing samples for trace-level analysis of organic compounds, including extraction and clean-up
• Experience as a Study Director (SD) or Principal Investigator (PI)
• Experience implementing automated lab processes for streamlining sample prep workflows. Hands-on experience working with and troubleshooting complex robotic laboratory equipment, such as the Hamilton STAR liquid handling system, is required. Familiarity with programming such robotic laboratory equipment is desired.
• Experience working in a GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) or similar GxP environment. Familiarity with Quality Assurance (QA), EPA and global regulatory requirements.
• Experience working in and with fast-paced multidisciplinary teams Knowledge/Skills
• Proven record of success leading projects and setting novel technical approaches that have long- term, strategic impact
• Effective communication, observation and prioritization skills to facilitate conducting studies, writing, editing and/or approving detailed comprehensive reports submitted to regulatory agencies
• Knowledge of the fundamental aspects of experiment execution and data analysis, excellent presentation skills and proficiency in commonly used applications (e.g., MS Office)
• Ability to travel 10% - domestic and international
