About Audio Visual (A/V) Technician Support Specialist

  Mount St. Mary's University, Information Technology Support Center, has an immediate opening for an A/V Tech Support Specialist. This is a fulltime 40 hour a week position. Overtime and weekends are required.

  Seeking qualified individuals who will provide Audio Visual tech & equipment support for on-site users and our Frederick campus. Potential candidates must be able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills as well as technical proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  Job Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  Train end-users on A/V systems & equipmentProvide technical setup and support for Web Conferencing (Zoom, Skype, WebEx, Etc.) and troubleshoot equipmentLivestreaming campus lectures & eventsSetup and tear down of A/V before and after eventsCATV maintenance & repairIn depth knowledge of audio systems, mics, mixers, amps, speakersLive sound management of audio equipment, mixing board, for indoor or outdoor events in the following locations, arena, chapel, theater, auditoriums or lecture halls.Responsible for sound checks, equipment placement, volume and quality of soundUnderstand and trouble shoot all A/V equipment as well as auditorium & classroom configurationsDocumentation of A/V system processesCoordinate tech & A/V equipment for internal and external users & event requirementsWorking knowledge of a range of A/V diagnostic utilities & toolsCollaborate with Director of Client Computing & A/V Systems on A/V projects and expansion plansInstall, maintain and upgrade equipment and its associated infrastructureReceive and respond to incoming calls, texts, and/or e-mails regarding A/V software/hardware problems.Runs diagnostic tests to isolate system problems and make recommendations for potential solutionsPerform related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the departmentSupervise AV Student Techs

   

  Minor Tasks

  Inventory of A/V equipment and trackingMaking Ethernet and Coax cablesOther duties as assigned

   

  Special Knowledge:

  Technical training and experience in personal computer hardware and software, audio visual systems and networking is required.Familiarity with PCs, cameras, printers, projectors, touch panels, sound systems including mixers, amplifiers, microphones, etc.Two to three years AV technician or AV installer experienceProficiency and in-depth knowledge of AV systemsAbility to read architectural and schematic diagrams (System and Building Drawings)Proficiency with PCs and MS OfficeAudio DSP programming and balancingCrestron/AUX/Extron Control System loading and debugging (programming is a plus)VTC and Digital Media knowledge and experience

   

  Physical Requirements:

  Ability to climb stairs.Normal, corrective vision range, the ability to distinguish letters, numbers & symbols.The ability to lift and move computer equipment, if needed, of up to 40 pounds.Must be able to negotiate between various buildings on campus.Must be able to work weekends and overtime based on diverse remote learning classes/event schedules.

   

  Job Requirements: Education, Experience and Skills:

  Potential candidates must be able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills.Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office.AA or Vocational High School diploma in audio-visual engineering or related field and two (2) years as an A/V Technician, Or High School Diploma or GED and six (6) years of A/V Systems experience.Familiarity with PCs, cameras, printers, projectors, PA systems including mixers, amplifiers, microphones and other office equipment as well.Must be customer focused. Promote a continuous quality improvement effort to enhance the services provided to clients, students & staff by demonstrating positive attitudes and actions through a dis lay of courtesy, congeniality, cooperation, professionalism, and sensitivityOvertime, weekend and evening as required. Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning skills. Strong documentation skills. The successful candidate will have and maintain excellent customer-service skills, high attention to detail, be willing to learn and be part of a team.

   

  Salary/Benefits

  Minimum Pay Rate: $22.00/hourThis is a full-time position with full benefits and annual, holiday and sick leave. The university offers a generous benefits package, including tuition remission for graduate and undergraduate classes at Mount St. Mary's University, retirement program with a match as well as a generous paid time off schedule.
