We are seeking a Labor and Employment Attorney for a large corporation in the Grand Rapids area.
The Role:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated attorney with a strong understanding of labor law and experience representing unions to join our team. You will play a key role in advocating for union members' rights, ensuring fair treatment in the workplace, and achieving positive outcomes through negotiation, collective bargaining, and litigation when necessary.
Responsibilities:
Provide legal counsel and representation to union members on a variety of labor issues, including:
Grievances and contract disputes
Unfair labor practices
Workplace safety and health concerns
Discrimination and harassment
Wage and hour violations
Collective bargaining negotiations
Arbitration and litigation
Develop and implement legal strategies aligned with union goals and objectives.
Conduct legal research and prepare legal documents, including briefs, motions, and complaints.
Liaise with union leadership and members to understand their needs and concerns.
Represent the union before administrative agencies, including the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
Build and maintain positive relationships with union members, employers, and other stakeholders.
Stay current on developments in labor law and relevant case law.
Requirements - Must possess analytical, legal research and writing skills
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-pressure environment, to prioritize tasks and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent through each task performed
Detailed and have the ability work independently
Labor law experience
Union Grievances experience
First-rate academic credentials and references
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Licensed attorney
