The Sonny Astani Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at USC Viterbi seeks a Budget Business Analyst to support the department in managing its day-to-day financial and administrative operations. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
Monitoring and maintaining department accounts. Provide monthly status reports.
Arranging travel and processing reimbursements for faculty, staff, students, and guests.
Responsible for department expenditures, working with vendors and USC departments. Reconciles vendor statements and pays invoices. Verifies prices and resolves discrepancies.
Reconciling internal records and inputting financial data.
Setting up and monitoring student payroll activity.
Deposits gift income to the appropriate account.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The university, school, and department reserve the right to add or change duties anytime.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree or combined experience/education as a substitute for minimum education.
Preferred experience: 2 years
Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), strong financial and accounting acumen, the ability to follow through with assigned tasks within established time frames and minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment, and exceptional focus on attention to detail and accuracy.
Must be skilled in using the Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), other internet applications (search engines, online portals), and similar software.
Applicant must ensure confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information, including but not limited to student, staff, or faculty files.
Project management skills, financial management skills, and financial experience. Educational administrative experience is a plus.

Additional Information:
This is a hybrid position. The Budget/Business Analyst will be expected to work onsite 4 days per week. The position is not eligible for fully remote work.
The hourly rate range for this position is $34.43 - $38.64.
