Position Summary: These attorney positions are responsible for enforcing Chapters 104 and 106 F.S., which pertain to corrupt election practices and campaign finance reporting in the Florida Elections Commission.
Pay: $52,000 - $72,000 Annually, commensurate with level of experience .
Qualifications: In order to be eligible for the Attorney role, candidates must hold a Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association and membership of the Florida Bar. Applicants who are not current members of the Florida Bar can be considered, providing they have applied to be members of the Florida Bar and received approval to sit for the bar exam. Any employment offer would be contingent upon passing the bar within 12 months from the date of employment.
To qualify for the Senior Attorneyposition, applicants must have a Florida Bar membership and two years of professional experience in the practice of law, legal research, teaching law or in administrative or judicial hearings.
The Work You Will Do: TheAttorney'sduties are assigned by and supervised by the General Counsel. The person in this role will be responsible for fulfilling a specific set of duties which include, but are not limited to:
Monitors and manages a caseload.
Drafts, edits, and prepares legal documents, including staff recommendations, orders, and other motions and pleadings.
Organizes the case files and prepares case presentations.
Presents cases, makes arguments, and responds to questions during hearings before the Commission as a qualified representative.
Interacts with and maintains professional communication with attorneys and other parties relevant to assigned cases.
Conducts legal research and assists the General Counsel in conducting discovery, as needed.
As aSenior Attorney, you will manage your assigned caseload while also fulfilling the responsibilities of an Attorney. You will also be involved in recruiting and training new attorneys. Furthermore, you may be assigned other projects by the Executive Director, General Counsel, or Chief of Staff.
Note: This position may involve travel.
