GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Department of Education – Vision Outreach Services provides programming for people of all ages with vision impairments in the State of Wyoming, including implementing services under the Older Individuals Who Are Blind Grant. This position provides direct support and training to individuals with visual impairments (primarily over the age of 55) to address daily living needs and maintain independence. This position will work under the guidance and direction of Vision Outreach Services Consultants in reinforcing the implementation of assessed client needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
Based on the assessed needs of clients, provide training or reinforce training provided by VOS consultants or contractors
Support statewide and regional learning activities for consumers
Support statewide and regional outreach and interagency collaborations
Track and document consumer progress on goals
Complete case notes
Collaborate with co-workers and other agencies to meet consumer needs
Check the function of incoming assistive technology and equipment and prepare for reallocation to clients.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to applicants with experience in working with individuals who are blind or have low vision and/or experience in providing instruction to adults.
KNOWLEDGE:
Customer service-oriented, able to professionally work with older individuals who are blind and the other agencies which support them, and to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
Understanding of confidentiality and ability to apply these principles when working with client and agency information.
An ability to understand the federal and state rules and regulations that guide operations of VOS and apply that knowledge to daily work.
Ability to successfully address multiple projects simultaneously and to work independently.
Ability to utilize technology to maintain office communications, client database, equipment inventory, and complete required office paperwork.

Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, driving an automobile, etc.
Special physical demands are not required to perform the work. However, the successful candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

FLSA: Non-exempt
Travel is estimated at 60%
Applicants may be asked to provide transcripts of any relevant coursework at the time of the interview or hire.
Successful candidates must pass a fingerprinting, background, and reference check.
