Team Overview
The Project Manager will report to the Director of Enterprise Agility & Strategic Enablement Team, accountable for oversight and execution of programs required to realize our corporate strategy. The Enterprise Agility & Strategic Enablement (EASE) Team manages our strategic programs in partnership with business leaders. It works collaboratively with other groups to ensure initiatives in execution are aligned with corporate strategy, resources are efficiently allocated, risks are mitigated, outcomes are achieved, and benefits are realized.
The incumbent will:
Plan and re-plan medium product releases as they are produced to ensure timely updates and to deliver the planned benefits as early as possible.
Plans, monitors and manages projects or group of projects from initiation through completion.
Secures required resources, and uses formal project/program management processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks, schedules and changes.
Manages projects to ensure on-time completion according to the specifications of the deliverable and within budgeted costs.
Typically incumbents in this discipline are working towards or have achieved certification in project management.
Key Responsibilities
Associate Project Manager (Level 15)
Manages small to medium sized assigned projects
Manages the project planning sessions to establish scope, assumptions, risks, constraints, deliverables, interim milestones, work breakdown structure and timelines according to established project level category.
Develops the schedule to facilitate communication with team members and stakeholders
Prepares the project charter issue log, risk log and other supporting project documentation based on size and complexity of project.
Establishes the project control and monitoring guidelines
Draft project review reports and presentations, including key information, commentary, and recommendations to support the review process and enable stakeholders to evaluate progress and agree on change.
Project Manager (Level 17). In addition to the responsibilities of Associate Project Manager (Level 15) above:
Lead a small to medium project team; communicates the project vision and outcomes needed along with guidance to achieve outcome, coordinates team actions on project activities; coordinates flow of additional team members on and off the team as needed; and identifies areas of improvement necessary to build the capability of the team through training, coaching and mentoring.
Review existing operations in own area of work and implement innovation processes to generate new ideas and ensure continuous improvements are delivered.
Manage relationships with internal clients and act as a business partner to them, building high levels of professional credibility and mutual trust, and managing the deployment of appropriate internal and/or external resources to support in delivering business strategy and plans.
Screening Criteria
Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or in a related field
Minimum 2 years (Associate Project Manager) or 5 years of experience (Project Manager) coordinating projects in a project management office or related project/program environment with competing priorities and diverse deliverables
Demonstrated understanding of project management principles and practices, including creating and monitoring schedules, budgets, meeting agendas, status reporting and risk/issue management
Understanding of the Agile Framework
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work for multiple stakeholders
Working knowledge of project management principles and practices
Advanced written and verbal communication skills and experience communicating and consulting with project executives, sponsors and stakeholders
Associate: Proficient in Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, MS Teams and other related applications
Project Manager: Advanced in Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and other related applications
Assets
Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)
Experience using Planview, Lean Kit and Azure ADO or related project scheduling tools
Salary Range
Associate Project Manager (Level 15)
Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $62,336 - $83,116.Project Manager (Level 17)
Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $81,012 - $108,017.Please note that we will consider candidates at the level 15 or level 17, depending on the candidate’s qualifications
Location
Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.
This role will be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa
