  Job Overview

  The Associate Director of Signature Events is responsible for the planning and execution of Advancement events which support the alumni engagement, development and campaign goals established by the university. The Associate Director works with the Director of Signature Events to establish event-specific strategies for achieving the goals and objectives set forth by internal and external stakeholders and the university at-large. This position assists in the creation, execution and management of local, national and international programs and is responsible for the refinement of departmental methods and systems which best support the mission of the Office of Advancement.

  Work Interactions

  Reporting to the Director of Signature Events, the Associate Director of Signature Events serves as a member of the Office of Advancement Signature Events team. They partner with Advancement and university colleagues, and oversee members of the Signature Events team in the planning and execution of events.

  The effective planning, supervision and implementation of these events have a direct impact on relationships with alumni, university “friends,” donors and prospective donors, as well as current students.

  On an on-going basis, the Associate Director discusses with the Director their individual project objectives and budget development and maintenance.

  Requirements and Qualifications

  Bachelor’s degree

  At least 4 to 6 years of commensurate event planning experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience

  Preferred qualifications

  Exceptional organizational and time management skills

  Superb attention to detail

  Ability to concurrently balance multiple, high priorities

  Excellent written and oral communication skills

  Experience supervising volunteers and colleagues and working with VIPs

  Mission-driven mindset
