General PurposePerforms a variety of arts-related administrative, marketing, web management, graphic design, special events, and customer service functions for the Moab Arts & Recreation Center. Supports the Arts Director and Parks, Recreation and Trails Department with events and with programming throughout the community.

Essential FunctionsThe Associate Arts Director is responsible for the following:
MarketingDesigning and updating all event and program marketing materials including posters, postcards, shirts, stickers, totes, print ads, A-frame decals, banners, gallery exhibit show cards, and web and social media graphics. Maintain integrity of Moab Arts and City branding. Website design/WIX: Managing front end design and cohesion. Updating mobile web version. Creating event and class registration. ```{=html}
```- Social Media management, including posting to and monitoring engagement on Instagram and Facebook, and event creation. - Write and send a bimonthly newsletter on behalf of the Arts division to include information on programming and opportunities. - Write and distribute press releases for all Arts programs and events; post events on KZMU community board. - Designing and distributing templates for use by other Parks, Recreation and Trails divisions to gain information on registration and marketing needs; using information to open class registration, update the website, create marketing materials, etc., for division activities (developing consistent registration processes and designs throughout the department).
OutreachLiaison for Moab Arts in community and region: Develop relationships and recruit artists, musicians, instructors, vendors, photographers, and program partners. Spread word about upcoming events and opportunities.```{=html}

Curating Foyer Gallery Shows ExhibitionsAssists in determining the mission and vision of the Foyer Gallery space. Takes applications for Foyer Gallery installations. Assists in determining Foyer Gallery artists and schedule. Curates foyer space to best display artists' work. Communicates expectations relating to the display of artists' work; assists in determining artist's goals for the show. Collaborates with artists to create marketing elements and brochures. Schedules reception or other event(s). Assists artist in developing exhibit.Art WalkAssists in determining the mission and vision of the Art Walk event; assists in determining annual Art Walk schedule. Creates and updates application for event participation; monitors application process and assists in determining selected artists, galleries, vendors, and locations. Plans Art Walk event, to include comprehensive list of participating artists and locations; creates event map and coordinates travel routes and travel options between sites. Connects participating artists with participating locations; assists in building relationships between artists, vendors, galleries, and participating businesses. Procures supplies for Art Walk events to ensure successful display of artwork in businesses and locations Leads and directs events staff assisting with Art Walk; creates training procedures and documentation to assist in this process.ResidencyFacilitate resident artist experience including handling all necessary correspondence with artists and interested participants, providing feedback and assistance with projects, coordinating meetings with relevant organizations and individuals, checking in on project progress, assisting with public programs, checking in on housing, address other needs and concerns. Arrange annual housing for resident artists, search for long term housing partnerships. Coordinate with artist residency partner organizations to update contracts and schedule tours and site visits. ```- Network with other residency programs and coordinators, participate in monthly Southwest Residency Cohort meetings. - Collect project information and photos from residents and update website archive. - Facilitates panel review process including selecting panelist, communicating program goals, fine tuning the scoring rubric, and teaching panelists how to score applications. - Reviews applicants; coordinates with other panel members to select candidates.
EventsAssists in curating themes and goals.Assists with event planning. Assists in the management of events, on site for events (including Markets, Art Walk, Holiday Craft Fair, Red Rock Arts Festival, artist receptions, classes). Assists with event set up and break down. Coordinates with participating artists and musicians.TeachingWithin skill set, teaches occasional art classes for pop up events, scheduled events, summer camp, and the MARC class schedule. Assists in oversight of summer camp counselor roles; fills-in as needed. Additional DutiesAssists in reviewing and scoring applications for event vendors and public art. Assists in answering questions about facility rentals, and co-working space, gives tours. Assists with event registration process, collecting payments, processing purchase orders and invoices. Assists in determining grant needs; assists in grant application process by drafting language associated with role; assists in determining budgetary requirements. Assists in the development of processes and procedures for the department, to include employee handbooks, volunteer handbooks, tasks lists, contracts, applications, etc. Represents the MARC and Arts Department at events, city council meetings, local organization meetings, etc., as needed. Assists other City Departments with events when needed (Movie Nights, Turkey Trot, Easter Egg Hunt, 4th of July, Sustainability Earth Day event, etc.). Performs light cleaning duties, organizing supplies, moving art, moving, and setting up furniture in facility as needed.Education and ExperienceAssociate degree, and Two (2) years' experience in arts administration, or An equivalent combination of education and experienceRequired Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to perform a variety of clerical and administrative work requiring exercise of independent judgment and excellent organizational skills; ability to learn new computer programs and use of communication systems. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city staff, volunteers, artists, and the public; ability to deal effectively and calmly with the public on the phone and in person.
