Candidates must have a PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering with expertise in auditory neurophysiology, auditory prostheses, computational neuroscience, speech and perception, optical imaging, machine learning, and data analytics towards treating various health conditions, such as deafness and tinnitus. Faculty candidates will play a significant leading role in managing and guiding the lab overseen by Professor Hubert Lim, with responsibilities including: advancing the development and translation of neural interfaces and medical technologies from scientific concept to clinical application; fostering close collaborations with clinicians and industry; leading projects that utilize in vitro and in vivo animal experiments and behavioral paradigms to validate technological and therapeutic advancements; and ensuring the technology is developed and tested in pilot human studies. Exceptional faculty candidates should have a strong publication record and high potential to successfully obtain grant funding, such as from NIH and DoD. They will also have opportunities to provide research mentoring to undergraduate and graduate students as well as postdocs, staff researchers, and medical professionals. The successful candidate will join a uniquely interdisciplinary and collaborative research environment of scientists and scholars across the Medical School and College of Science & Engineering by conducting innovative and impactful research aimed at improving treatments for a range of health disorders.
