Please note that this position is contingent upon receiving a bid to manage railcar traffic in multiple locations for a major customer and employment would not begin until approximately June 1st.

The Rail Logistics Specialist of Watco Logistics is responsible for the overall “day to day” management of rail freight shipments and assigned shipping accounts. It is essential for the Rail Logistics Specialist to establish rail carrier and customer relationships, effectively solicit rail carriers and customers to haul shipments and seek opportunities for rail transportation. This position has various responsibilities including operational, accounting, and customer service duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING (OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED)
Deliver quality service to internal and external customers addressing any railroad issues and delays that may disrupt railroad services
Manage customer car orders in specified rail portal
Secure rail carrier capacity to handle shipments
Ensure Watco Supply Chain Services’ operating procedures and protocol are adhered to
Deliver cost effective solutions that always keeps the long-term interest of the customer as the priority
Ensure performance to the branch’s annual goals and objectives
Play critical role in efforts to ensure service focus, morale, teamwork, and a positive culture is built and maintained with in the location
Communicate with customers, carriers, suppliers, vendors and internal teams on payments, pricing, invoicing, and any operational needs
Track and trace customer rail shipments and send daily pipeline reports
Process building ensuring required documents are obtained and customer invoicing requirements are met
Provide railcar repair and lease guidance to the customer
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS & ABILITIES

High School Education or a GED is required
College degree preferred
1 year transportation or supply chain related experience preferred
Strong organization, communication, and time management skills
Demonstrable problem resolution skills
Possess basic computer skills- Microsoft Excel, Word
Strong phone and email communication skills
Apply knowledge of organization, communication, conflict resolution, and time management skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sit, stand, walk, and reach with arms – Completion of paperwork, long consecutive hours of typing and using the computer, and walk to filing cabinets in the work area
