Position Summary
Metropolitan State University of Denver invites applications for a tenuretrack Assistant Professor of Aerospace Science faculty position to beginAugust 2024. The successful applicant will (a) instruct 12-credit hours ofaviation-oriented coursework per academic semester (fall & spring),and (b) maintain 5 scheduled office hours per week to includeadvising/consultation with students. This position also requires variousresponsibilities related to professional development and service.

Duties/Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include:Instructing 12-credit hours of aviation-oriented coursework per fall andspring semesters. Candidates will be expected to teach courses such as, butnot limited to, the following: Private, Instrument, and Commercial FAA141 Pilot Ground Courses, Aviation Weather, Instrument and Multi-EngineFlight Simulation Courses, Aircraft Systems and Propulsion,Aerodynamics, Human Factors and Physiology of Flight, AircraftPerformance, Crew Resource Management, and Advanced Navigation Systems.Maintaining office hours as required to include advising/consultation withstudents and engage in student-centered activities.Additional responsibilities in the areas of professional development,scholarly activities, and service to the Department, College,University, and community.
The successful candidate must have the ability to work with and be sensitiveto the educational needs of a diverse urban population.
Required QualificationsA Master's degree or higher (MA, MS, or PhD) in Aviation andAerospace Technology/Science4 years of related aviation technology/science work experience
Preferred QualificationsFAA certifications and ratings to include: (a) Commercial Pilot,(b) Instrument Airplane, (c) Certified Flight Instructor - Singleand Multi-Engine Airplane, (d) Certified Flight Instructor - InstrumentAirplanDocumented experience in FAA Part 141 flight training operationsTeaching experience to include: (a) four or more semesters of documentedteaching at a U.S. nationally accredited collegiate institution in classesrelated to aviation or aerospace science and (b) experience instructingcollegiate classes online via Web-based deliveryFAA Part 121 or 135 Experience and FAA Type Rating in Regional Jet, LargeAir Transport Category Aircraft, or Corporate JetEarned Doctorate (applied) or Ph.D.Qualifying experience requirements for designation as FAA 141 Chief orAssistant Chief Ground Instructor
Salary for Announcement
The salary range for this position is $73,000 - $83,000 at AssistantProfessor rank. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be setbased upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internalequity, education, experience, specialty and training.
