The University of Chicago\'s Department of Pathology is searching for afull-time faculty member at assistant professor rank in Hematopathology.The appointee will have clinical responsibilities in hematopathology andthe clinical hematology laboratory and will participate in theinterpretation of lymph node and bone marrow specimens, flow cytometrystudies and section quality improvement activities. The Hematopathologyservice provides support to other pathology services such as surgicalpathology and cytopathology in interpretation and ancillary studies ofthe cases related to hematologic disorders. Other duties will includeteaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarlyactivity. Strong interest and prior training in flow cytometry isdesired.

The UCM Hematopathology service reviews approximately 1,600 bonemarrow and 1,000 lymph node and consultation cases per yearThe UCM Flow Cytometry laboratory performs approximately 6,500studies annually, including 2,500 stand-alone interpretive studiesThe Clinical Hematology laboratory performs approximately 450,000complete blood counts with differentials, 57,000 urinalysis, 5,000body fluid and 2,800 miscellaneous tests per yearPrior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have amedical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible to hold amedical license in the State of Illinois, and 3) have boardcertification or eligibility for board certification in Hematopathologythrough the American Board of Pathology
