Summary
Directs activities for performing technical distribution system studies and developing conceptual plans, reports or recommendations associated with power quality and Distributed Energy Resources (DER). Directs other technical studies and develops conceptual plans as needed. Implements processes and controls to ensure legal, regulatory, code, safety and standards compliance.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Directly or through others, the incumbent:
Leads the development of studies for power quality and DER in conjunction with appropriate internal stakeholder groups, including but not limited to technical studies on voltage, reliability, harmonics, and both small and large capacity DER.
Supports company and/or industry committees or technical working groups providing technical and analytical expertise in the areas of power quality and DER, as well as, in various legal and regulatory matters. This includes, but is not limited to, IEEE standard development and the ERCOT stakeholder process.
Supports the development of strategies for integration of systems, processes and data from various sources in support of “future state” operations and technology strategies. Performs studies to understand the impact of future technologies and works with internal and external stakeholders to continue evolution of electric grid.
Administers and monitors the performance of a work group including selection, performance appraisal, salary administration, and career development of employees in the work group.
Supports training of distribution planning engineers and interfaces with other organizations both internal and external to Oncor.

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
Education – Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred
Experience – 5+ years utility industry experience
Certification – Texas Professional Engineering Registration preferred
Skill – Ability to apply complex analysis to identify the optimal solution to a technical problem
Skill – Ability to effectively communicate and commit to a course of action that is consistent with all legal, regulatory, code, standard, or other requirements, as well as corporate policies and procedures
Skill – Ability to supervise, lead, motivate, and provide technical guidance to others
Skill – Organizational management, leadership, problem solving and decision-making skills are essential
