  The Facilities and Hospitality Department of the Stanford Graduate School of Business seeks an Assistant Director, Student Residential Services. Reporting to the Director, Hospitality Services and working collaboratively with the Assistant Director, Program Residential Services, this position will be responsible for developing and implementing residential practices that support residents’ academic goals and intellectual growth and that promote a comfortable atmosphere for all occupants, including Executive Education participants and guests of the University.

  The GSB Residences are made up of the Schwab Residential Center, which opened in 1997, and Jack McDonald Hall, which opened in 2016 with roughly 440 beds.

  In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a difference in the day-to-day lives of GSB students as you refine the GSB living and learning environment. If you are a service-oriented, optimistic leader, this role is for you.

  This is a full-time on-site role at the Stanford GSB campus, with the potential to work remotely one day per week.

  Your primary responsibilities include:

  Oversee and manage assigned staff engaged in 24/7 hospitality. Hire, mentor, and evaluate the performance of five direct reports. Assess training needs and develop associated training as needed.

  Coordinate daily activities, including scheduling and assigning work to staff, directing and leading workers in completing assignments, and monitoring work and project activity progress.

  Perform quarterly rent and room occupancy analysis. Propose monthly rental rates as well as strategic room inventory mixture to meet revenue goals.

  Implement, interpret, and manage policies and procedures pertaining to residential operations.

  Lead the GSB Residential student services operation, including oversight of residential contracts, suitemate assignments, welcoming/onboarding new student residents, move-in process, individual and community communications, issue resolutions, move-out process, and facilitating residential tours during GSB Admit Weekends.

  Respond to student resident matters.

  Survey student residents annually. Review and analyze trends to advise and develop recommendations for operational adjustments.

  Develop process improvements for package and mail distribution to effectively manage mailroom operations and examine year-over-year package volume increases. Implement policies and procedures to support the growth.

  Coordinate activities with other GSB and University departments and vendors and ensure alignment with larger unit goals.

  Collaborate with University Housing Assignments throughout the housing lottery process. Track occupancy to ensure all available rooms in the GSB Residences are occupied.

  Attend meetings and represent the GSB Residences on student-related matters. Stakeholders include Stanford R&DE Housing, GSB Admissions, GSB MBA Program, the Stanford Graduate-Life Office, and the Stanford Office of Accessible Education

  To be successful in this position, you will bring:

  A combination of education, training, and experience performing responsibilities similar to those listed above.

  Ability to manage a diverse team of staff and contingent labor, holding them to deadlines and the highest quality output.

  Demonstrated experience tracking metrics and analyzing data.

  Attention to detail and deadlines; well organized; ability to prioritize and manage complex workflows.

  Excellent communication, time management, and hospitality skills. Ability to cultivate partnerships with a broad spectrum of groups and rapport with students.

  Ability to accomplish goals working through formal and informal channels, with diplomacy and tactfulness.

  Sound judgment and innovative and creative problem-solving skills.

  Ability to interact and successfully collaborate.

  Demonstrated experience analyzing, interpreting, and communicating policies.

  This is a fully onsite role. Workdays are Tuesday through Saturday. Requires 24-hour response availability seven days per week for emergency situations.

  In addition, preferred requirements include:

  Prior customer service and hospitality experience.The expected pay range for this position is $87,000 - $120,000 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
