Position Summary
The Assistant Director (AD), Special Events serves as team lead for all events and programming related to undergraduate recruitment at NYU Tandon School of Engineering. This position plans, develops, and manages all aspects of school-wide special events and programs for NYU Tandon, including campus tours, information sessions, Open House, Weekend on the Square, and other formal programs as needed. The Assistant Director liaises with and supports partner departments including the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Tandon’s academic departments, and the Office of Development and Alumni Relations for up to 800 prospective students annually. Supervise an annual cohort of Project Welcome student workers, including hiring, training/development, performance management, and leading weekly team meetings. Occasional travel on evenings and weekends is required.
Qualifications
Required Education:Bachelor's Degree in a related areaPreferred Education:Master's Degree in higher education or related fieldRequired Experience:5+ years in event planning, recruitment, supervision, managing budgets, and/or higher education experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Excellent interpersonal, organizational and written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment and be a team player. Ability to oversee staff. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database applications such as MS Word and Excel, and Google Workspace. Occasional travel on evenings and weekends is required.
Additional Information
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $80,000.00 to USD $100,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
