  Department Summary

  Position Summary

  The Assistant Director (AD) of Sexual Violence Prevention and Education provides primary leadership and coordination of sexual violence prevention education initiatives at the UO. The Assistant Director is expected to support the Director of Prevention Services in long-term visioning, goal setting, supervision, evaluation, and innovation of evidence-based prevention of interpersonal violence among college students. The AD is also expected to provide coordination, training, and leadership for peer-facilitated campus sexual violence prevention and education efforts including all first-year primary prevention workshops, peer-facilitated programs, and the creation and sustaining of population-specific intervention strategies.

  The AD will be supporting the work of student organizations and student leaders in sexual violence prevention education on campus, working closely with student employees, interns, and other stakeholders. This role works closely with other response colleagues including the Confidential Advocacy Program, University Health Services, Athletics, Title IX, and other campus partners engaged in prevention education work. The goal of the AD's work is to ignite campus dialogue by offering educational programs that are designed to reduce unwanted sexual experiences, create and/or enhance healthy relationships, and practice bystander intervention. This position reports to the Director of Prevention Services, under the leadership of the Dean of Students.

  Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, public health, prevention science, family and human services, college student personnel, student affairs administration, or related field.

  • Two years of direct professional or graduate-level experience in sexual violence prevention within an institution of higher education.

  • Two years experience providing direct services to students in crisis.

  • Experience with and/or commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment.

  • Interpersonal skills and ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships with students and campus and community partners.

  • Strong facilitation skills to motivate and encourage others towards environmental and behavioral change utilizing best practices.

  • Organizational and time management skills, including setting priorities, achieving program and department goals, and performing multiple work assignments simultaneously with acute attention to detail.

  Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability in building and sustaining successful coalitions and committees that focus on sexual violence prevention efforts.

  • Demonstrated experience in campus, community, or public health research in program planning and evaluation.

  • Experience in selecting, training, supervising, and evaluating student staff.

  • Experience with critical review of professional literature related to sexual violence prevention, especially among college-aged students.

  • Experience developing and implementing environmental and policy change activities.

  • Experience in grant writing and/or executing grant-funded initiatives.

  • Experience providing direct services to support individuals impacted by interpersonal violence.
