As the University's largest and most varied academic unit, the College ofArts, Humanities & Social Science (CAHSS) is composed of artists,learners, performers, scholars, scientists, and teachers. CAHSS actsas a central hub where many of the University's disciplines work to advancehuman understanding around a range of critical contemporary issues. CAHSS iscomprised of 21 departments, programs, schools, and centers. Nearly all6,000 undergraduates at the University take liberal arts courses with us,and about one-third of these students declare a first major in a CAHSSprogram. Most of our departments, programs and schools offer masters ordoctoral programs. CAHSS scholars, artists, instructors, staff, andstudents collaborate in a shared quest for knowledge about the human conditionand the development of skills to improve our local and global communities.
About the Center for Art Collection Ethics
The Center for Art Collection Ethics (ACE) is making a long-term impact onthe art world by training the rising generation of curators and culturalleaders, and educating the public about the importance of ethicalstewardship. Through our news blog and social media platforms, we examinethe latest advances and challenges in art stewardship and help shape globalconversations about art ethics today. ACE offers expert-led training programsto equip graduate students and emerging professionals with the skills theyneed to implement ethical stewardship practices in libraries, museums, andother cultural institutions. We also host events available to the public in avariety of formats - in-person, hybrid and virtual - on the most pressingissues related to art ethics, including Nazi-era art, antiquities,Native American and Indigenous items.
Position Summary
The Assistant Director reports directly to the Director of the Center for ArtCollection Ethics, and is responsible for strategic planning of events,training programs, social media campaigns, and fundraising.
This is a two-year, gift funded appointment. Renewal is possible contingentupon funding.
Essential Functions
Develop a strategic plan for strengthening the Center's impact within theDU community, external students who enroll in training programs, and thebroader public.In collaboration with University and CAHSS Advancement team, develop andimplement fundraising initiatives to elevate the profile of the Center andsecure funding for the long-term viability of the Center.Collaborate with the Director in planning and implementing training programsand public events that advance the mission of the Center.Research and publish blog and social media posts onliberalarts.du.edu/art-collection-ethics, X (aka Twitter),Instagram, and LinkedIn that promote the Center and raise awareness for itsprogrammatic offerings.Assist with other administrative tasks as needed.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
Experience working in Microsoft Office Suite.Ability to build and foster relationships and to serve as a liaison betweenexternal and internal stakeholdersAbility to take initiative and manage projects from conception to completionAbility to act proactively and with self-motivationCommitment to furthering DU's diversity, equity, and inclusion goalsStrong attention to detail.Strong organizational skills.Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited four-year collegeor university.
Two to three (2-3) years of work experience in a related field.Web editing experience.Prior experience managing social media accounts.Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in a related field.
Familiarity with issues related to museum ethics.Web editing experience using Drupal.Work ScheduleThe position is part-time (20 hours per week), with a flexible schedule.
