Position Description
The Community Review Board (CRB) Assistant Director reports to the Community Review Board Executive Director and is responsible for providing support in overseeing the compliance division of the CRB which may include administrative duties involved in planning, organizing, and directing programs and services and other areas of the Community Review Board. All applications are subject to public disclosure.
The Community Review Board has the power to review allegations that Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) officers have committed misconduct against members of the public, as well as issue policy advisory and resolution reports related to allegations of misconduct by MNPD.
Typical Duties
Assists Board, Executive Director and Administrative Services Manager with developing departmental policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and work methods.
Disseminates, receives, and interprets information on behalf of the Director as needed.
Performs departmental managerial duties in the absence of the Director.
Prepares and transmits communications, instructions, and policies to compliance monitors.
Evaluates compliance procedures on a continuous basis; recommends and implements improvements where necessary.
Supervises the Review/Audit and Research and Policy department of the agency.
Assigns, oversees, and reviews work of compliance and support staff.
Evaluates compliance staff’s employee performance.
Directs reviews and audits of complaints involving members of the Metro Nashville Police Department.
Manages the activities and processes related to CRBs complaint and intake processes.
Assigns complaints to compliance staff; monitors activity and reviews case files and reports to ensure objectivity and thoroughness.
Manages and contributes to the on-call rotation.
Ensures complaints are documented, addressed timely, and handled appropriately.
Meets with compliance staff to monitor the progress of complaint cases to ensure their timely completion.
Plans, organizes, and conducts research studies into policy and training issues.
May carry a complaint case load and assist with reviewing cases as needed.
Works closely with the executive team, policy team, and Board to identify the best possible use for data in a policy and political context.
Serves as a subject matter expert on criminal justice technologies, providing information to various elected officials and other government employees.
Presents and defends findings to executive team, Community Review Board, and public regarding data in policy, criminal justice technologies, and political context, as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and (8) years of progressively responsible managerial experience in Organizational Development & Leadership, Public Health or Public Administration, or any closely related field.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Master’s Degree in Sociology, Public Administration, or Public Health.
Spanish speaker
Experience with administration of customer service/receiving complaints
Experience with criminal, civil, and administrative law and procedures
