Job Purpose
This combined role of Process Engineer and Assembly Operator is instrumental in ensuring the efficient assembly of medical devices while actively contributing to process optimization and improvement. Responsible for developing and executing assembly tasks while leveraging engineering expertise to enhance manufacturing processes, this role plays a critical part in maintaining quality and efficiency within the production environment.
This role requires a proactive individual who can seamlessly switch between performing assembly tasks and contributing to process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of hands-on assembly skills, technical knowledge, and a continuous improvement mindset to drive efficiency and quality within the medical device production process.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform hands-on assembly tasks, following standardized procedures to construct medical devices accurately and efficiently.
Identify opportunities for process improvement in assembly operations, proposing and implementing enhancements to streamline workflows.
Collaborate with engineering teams to develop, modify, or optimize assembly processes for improved efficiency and product quality.
Conduct tests and inspections on assembled components or devices to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
Troubleshoot assembly issues, providing technical expertise to resolve problems and prevent reoccurrences in the production process.
Assist in the development and documentation of assembly procedures, guidelines, and work instructions.
Monitor and maintain equipment used in assembly, performing routine maintenance and reporting any malfunctions or abnormalities.
Participate in cross-functional teams to support new product introductions or process changes, offering insights from an assembly standpoint.
Qualifications
Apprentice ship or bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or related field preferred.
5+ years Proven experience in assembly operations, ideally within the medical device or manufacturing industry.
Understanding of assembly techniques, tools, and equipment used in precision assembly processes.
Experience with six-sigma or similar
Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and the ability to apply them to improve assembly processes.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in executing assembly tasks while adhering to quality standards.
Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot assembly issues and propose effective solutions.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with engineers and other departments.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, assembly instructions, and documentation.
Adaptability to changing priorities, multitasking, and managing time efficiently within a fast-paced production environment.
