The Administrative Support Associate’s V/ Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) role is to perform customer service, clerical and reception duties that support the work flow of the unit, nursing station and the delivery of patient care. The clerical activities include ensuring accurate preparation, processing and standardization of the patient record, and utilization of clinical information systems. The customer service role includes effective communication with patients, significant others, and members of the health care team. The ASA V/HUC will be able to meet the needs of all units within the Patient Care Service assigned as needed.
Salary Range: $18.36 - $29
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include but are not limited to the following:
Demonstrate professional business etiquette
Initiate communication with all that enters the unit
Coordinate department communications, relaying patient and health care member requests to other members of the Patient Care Team
Prepare documents in the Windows operating system
Utilize clinical information systems: Invision, Soarian, Cerner/Bridge, etc. to support the delivery of patient care
Demonstrate computer skills
Prepare/maintain patient care record for use by patient care team
Transcribe orders of the patient record/electronic health care record
Assemble/manage unit records
Develop reports and data necessary for unit operations
Maintain adequate supplies of current forms, unit supplies and equipment
Assist in the implementation of specialized projects
Coordinate office function
Responsible for maintenance of a clean unit environment
Responsible for unit station work flow
Respond to the individual needs of patient/family as appropriate to the age and special characteristics of the patient group served
