Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Arts & Crafts Department, Vance Air Force Base. Arts & Crafts Programmer/Assistant Manager performs a variety of duties as described below. Must be able to meet deadlines and perform duties independently and in coordination with team environment. Works with A&C Manager and Marketing to formulate a marketing plan. Position requires multi-tasking in a busy environment. Responsibilities Arts & Crafts Center (A&C)Programmer/ Assistant Manager will work in one of the following areas on a daily basis, Frame, Engraving, Sublimation Shop. A&C Programmer is responsible to the A&C Manager for planning, scheduling and implementing a year round calendar of arts and crafts classes and events. Point of contact for all A&C programs and classes. Responsible for the development of and providing diversified and comprehensive cultural, educational, and recreational arts and crafts programs/classes. Recruits and negotiate personal service contracts with versatile and experienced instructors for a variety of arts and crafts classes, workshops and lectures in concert with RM Contract Manager. Works with the A&C Manager and Marketing to formulate a marketing plan, develops an annual calendar of classes/events and creates articles for all A&C activities. Coordinates the details of recurring and non-recurring activities, special events for all A&C activities. Publicizes activities/events. Provides individual(s) and group classroom instruction to center participants, schedules, registers students, hands out material and equipment. Must teach a minimum of one class per month. Routine work is performed independently. Serves as A&C Manager when the Manager is unavailable. Monitors all of the day to day operations of the Arts & Crafts Center. Responsible to meet customer requests, financial goals, work schedule(s), distribute workload, and supervise Recreation Assistance (NF-11), and Recreation Aids. Ensures opening and closing procedures are followed. Interfaces with customers and A&C activities to create one of a kind project, coordinates/checks the production and progress of projects with team members to meet customer suspense. Answers inquires, prepares reports required monthly or by higher headquarters for all activities within A&C. Maintains perpetual control of all inventory items using pre-establish procedures and methods. Purchases required equipment, supplies, and resale items utilizing the NAP GPC and established BP As. Reviews financial records to ensure proper procedures were followed for the purchases of resale items and equipment utilizing the NAF GPC and or established BPAs. May be required to perform Cashier duties. Qualifying Experience: Experience, knowledge or education and skill in applying and adapting knowledge in conducting cultural, educational, recreation activities, and arts and crafts. Ability to perform as an artist, demonstrate methods and techniques and teach one or more art forms. Ability to supervise and orient lower graded employees and volunteers, distribute balance work assignments and provide employee appraisal of work accomplishments. Knowledge and skill in developing and program budget for a large variety of Art & Crafts activities. Knowledge of equipment and replacement as required for a variety of programs. Ability to do simple math addition, subtraction, division and multiplication and to figure percentage mark up for resale items. Excellent customer service skills. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
