Trane is looking for a dynamic leader to drive business results and employee engagement as the Area General Manager of our West Michigan sales area. The W. MI area is a well-established sales area with high employee engagement! Successful candidate can live anywhere in the W MI territory, but the role does require 3 days in the Grand Rapids sales office.
The selected incumbent will be the Sales Leader, and provide leadership for Operations through a matrix management organizational structure. Additional primary responsibilities include the articulation and execution of both strategy and tactics for the area, ensuring customer satisfaction, and meeting Sales / Revenue Targets for all area Business Streams.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Works with Regional Leadership Team for Annual Operating Plan (AOP) development and delivery of financial results.
• Overall responsibility for the following functions: customer and district sales management, new customer acquisition, customer satisfaction measurement, price management, marketing, maximizing account penetration, market penetration, customer retention, hiring and on-boarding of new sales associates, continual assessment of skills and administering necessary training, setting quotas, accurate sales forecasting and consistent use of Trane sales tools and systems.
• Responsible for achieving annual objectives regarding profit, volume, margins, business mix, and share.
• Assembles account teams and interacts with Account Managers with differing business development requirements, customer focus, experience, sales cycles, and product portfolios.
• Provides day to day leadership for Operations Teams to ensure successful Project Fulfillment processes by working with, and supporting, Regional Operations Leaders.
• Maintains customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, and communicating with customers and CSO Sales and Operational Teams as needed.
• Flexibility to work outside normal work hours, as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the sales process.
• Supports Regional Functional Leaders for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the CSO Operational teams (Matrix Leadership Structure).
• Directly supervises sales personnel.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, finance or related degree from a four-year College or university.
• 10+ years of industry or related experience preferred, with at least 5-7 years of progressive sales managerial experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Familiarity with the operation of Energy Management Systems, or HVAC Systems and/or Temperature Controls, and/or Process Control Management strongly preferred.
· Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations included, but not limited to: DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
