The Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled professional with technical expertise in maintaining, configuring, integrating, and securing enterprise applications, specifically in the context of Student Evaluation of Teaching (SET).
Cornell's SET system will be an educational technology solution designed to assist academic institutions in the student evaluation of teaching management process.The centralized SET system will enable students to provide anonymous feedback on each of their courses and instructors. Student evaluations offer instructors important feedback regarding their teaching, allowing faculty to improve and enhance their teaching practice. A course evaluation system also provides colleges with the ability to perform data analysis, providing insight into the student learning experience across the colleges and institution and help inform internal decisions such as resource allocation.
As part of this role, you will be responsible for full application lifecycle management in the chosen SET environment. Direct experience working with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions Student Records and/or Academic Advising modules is desirable.
You will be responsible for managing and setting up enterprise software, including crucial tasks such as implementing data integrations, system configurations, access management, validating software updates, production support and troubleshooting, data security, reporting, SSO/MFA, domain names, SSL/TLS certificates, and data mapping/transformation.
Your role will involve performing thorough testing and validation of integrations, ensuring accurate data mapping, robust error handling, and effective handling of exception scenarios. Knowledge of SQL and database technologies is essential to effectively query, manipulate, and analyze data. Additionally, you will be responsible for analyzing, mapping, and transforming data to ensure compatibility and consistency across various systems. Attention to detail and a strong understanding of data management principles are crucial to success in this position.
In this role, you will excel in collaborative team environments, actively engaging in cross-functional teams and fostering productive partnerships with academic departments, administrators, end-users, external partners, and vendors. Your contributions will span various stages of the software development lifecycle, including business process analysis, systems analysis, systems design, testing, deployment, and ongoing support. Furthermore, you will closely collaborate with the SET application vendor and PeopleSoft teams, actively participating in planning and deployment activities to achieve seamless integration and optimal system performance and availability.
In this role you will also provide occasional back-up support for the suite of services managed by the team. These include the Enterprise Learning Management System (Canvas), and related learning technologies systems.
What We Need
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three (3) years' related IT experience inenterprise application systems and/or working directly with student data and business processes in higher education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge about the information technology field is required; a background in technical support concepts and application management are preferred. Diverse technical support experience required, including experience supporting information technology-related products.
Enterprise Application Development and System Administration:
System administration experience including installation, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of enterprise applications, including SaaS applications, and their underlying infrastructure including tasks such as SSO/MFA, domain names, user accounts, permissions, SSL/TLS certs.Technical experience maintaining, configuring, securing, integrating, and data mapping/transformation in enterprise applications such as the Blue Student Evaluation of Teaching application by Explorance. Analyze, map, and transform data to ensure compatibility and consistency between multiple systems.Knowledge of Enterprise Student Information Systems (SIS) such as PeopleSoft and Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Canvas.Experience with web services APIs (REST and SOAP), and XML and JSON data formats.Experience with unit and user acceptance testing and validation of integrations, including data mapping, error handling, and exception scenarios.Knowledge of SQL and database technologies to query, manipulate, and analyze data.Experience with Linux. Programming experience with Python, Linux shell scripting, and SQL. Use of source code version control tools (Git).Technical skills ranging from analysis and design to scripting and testing.Ability to analyze complex business requirements, identify system design options, and propose effective technical solutions to meet business objectives.Experience with creating technical documentation, user guides, system diagrams and reports. Proficient in documenting system configurations, technical specifications, and operational procedures, as well as preparing regular reports on application performance and system health.Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues effectively.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with various stakeholders.Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and work with external partners and vendors.Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work within established timelines.Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.Focus on providing excellent customer service, being responsive and proactive in addressing user needs and concerns.Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
