  SUMMARY OF DUTIES:Develop and manage all engineering programs and policies relating to operation of bridge condition measuring systems. Responsible for the development and implementation of an automated bridge inspection program. Research and develop new technologies in monitoring bridge condition assessment. Ensure employee development and safety programs that support the Amtrak business plan.

  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Develop and Manage the operation of Amtrak's bridge condition measuring program.Oversee the introduction of new technologies required to meet Amtrak's bridge maintenance and inspection needs.Schedule and control the maintenance and purchase of bridge inspection equipment.Ensure highest quality bridge inspections through management, data and technical analysis.Keep current with the latest practices and procedures through professional organizations and other high speed passenger railroads both domestic and abroad.

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:BS or AS in Engineering or the equivalent combination of education, training and/or railway engineering work experience.Technical supervisionTechnical designPlanning/SchedulingExcellent written and oral communication skillsProficiency in the use of software related to engineering analysis and communications.Must become qualified in RWP, AMT2, M/W1000 and NORAC/GCOR.

  MINIMUM KSA (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):Internal Relationships:Engineering for coordination of inspection schedules, data utilization, analysis, and distributionExternal Relationships:Technical contractors and consultants for data collection, analyses and characterization, and development of work solutions

  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:7+ years of relevant railroad experienceProject managementRailroad C&S maintenance and inspectionRailroad operations and proceduresRoadway Worker ProtectionMW 1000NORAC/General Code Operating RulesAMT II

  WORK ENVIRONMENT:Hybrid 80% office/field work environment, 20% remoteTravel 25%Inspection systems operate 24/7

  COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

  The salary/hourly range is$124,600 - $161,352. Payis based on several factors includingbut not limited to education, work experience,certifications,internal equity,etc.Depending on an employee's assigned worksite orlocation, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee's basesalary. Amtrak may offer additionalincentive and pay programs to recognize and rewardour employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individualand company performancethat is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plancompensation. If an applicant/employee refuses to provide written consent for Amtrak to obtain these records, the individual will not be permitted to perform safety-sensitive functions.

  In accordance with federal law governing security checks of covered individuals for providers of public transportation (Title 6 U.S.C. *1143), Amtrak is required to screen applicants for any permanent or interim disqualifying criminal offenses.

  Note that any education requirement listed above may be deemed satisfied if you have an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
