QUALIFICATIONS: One year in the PrincipalAppellate OfficeTypist or PrincipalAppellate Office Stenographer title; or Two yearsin the Senior Appellate Office Typist or Senior Appellate Office Stenographer title; or High school diplomaor the equivalent and three (3) years of relevant typing and clerical experience; orAn equivalent combinationof education and experience.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK: Appellate Law Typists work with substantial independence and are responsible forproviding accurate and high speed legal typing and other related clerical services to justices, administrators, and legal personnel in the Appellate Divisions and Appellate Terms of the Supreme Court.
ASSIGNMENT: This position will primarily provide clerical and administrative assistance to the Civil Appeals Settlement Program,but may be directed to provide such assistance to other units as directed by the Presiding Justice or the Clerk of the Court. Duties include but are not limited to: the preparation of correspondence and notices; interaction with the public and counsel; the creation, maintenance and organization of files; and answering telephone calls. Excellent typing skills and proofreading ability are required. Must be able to handle sensitive matters in a confidential manner.
