　　The City of Pflugerville is seeking its nex t Animal Care Tech Assistant Intern Apprentice to join our team! The person we seek will believe in and exhibit the City's P.F.I.R.S.T. core values: Positive, Forward-thinking, Integrity, Resilience, Service, and Teamwork.

　　As an Animal Care Tech Assistant Intern Apprentice for the City, you will be completing daily duties in animal care including feeding and exercising animals and providing medical care. You will be assisting Animal Care Techs in maintaining the animal shelter in a manner that meets Texas Department of State Health Services minimum standards.

　　Essential duties and responsibilities include:

　　Cleans and maintains all facility buildings as required to project a professional image at all times and maintain animals in a healthy environment. Daily assists Animal Care Techs in cleaning and disinfecting animal caging and kennels to prevent disease spread and maintain animals in a healthy environment.

　　Assists Animal Care Techs with administering required vaccinations and medications.

　　Assists Animal Care Techs with animal exams, microchipping, blood draws for FeLv and Heartworm testing, performing fecal tests, and other diagnostic tests as needed.

　　Interacts with, walks and exercises all animals as deemed appropriate.

　　Assists staff as needed with intake, adoption, and reclaim of animals.

　　Provides quality customer service to city staff, the general public, and all other work contacts.

　　Transport animals to and from vet clinics and adoption events as needed.

　　Other educational/training related duties as assigned.

　　Environmental Factors and Other Physical Requirements (Work Environment):

　　Will be required to work in settings with extreme cold or extreme heat, depending on time of year.

　　Will work around hazardous chemicals and materials.

　　Qualifications and Skill Requirements:

　　Be currently enrolled in Pflugerville ISD Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program.

　　Valid driver license
