Objectives of this Role:
This position will participate in the research and development ofexperimental, laser-based, spaceflight instrumentation enabling in-situgeochronology investigations across the Solar System.Work in multidisciplinary laboratory environment to design, build, andoptimize novel spacecraft instrumentation for scientific missions to the moonand beyond.Contribute to the design, development, and hands-on fabrication,assembly, integration, and test of instrumentation systems from concept toflight instrument delivery.Support senior R&D personnel in cutting edge research involving pulsedlasers, mass spectrometry and high-speed data acquisition systems.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
Work with scientific personnel to design, build, and test laser-basedinstrumentation capable of in-situ isotopic geochronology.Hands-on work with of Class IIIb/Class IV pulsed and CW lasers, ultra-highvacuum systems, pressurized gases, cryogens and high-voltage systems.Typical duties will involve the formulation and implementation of approachesto solving a wide array of experimental flight hardware problems - focused onthe design, assembly and control of mechanical and electrical systems fordata collection.Collaborate in the design, fabrication and performance validation of variousoptomechanical systems and interfacing with external vendors to procureinstrumentation hardware, system sub-components and laboratory test equipment.Experimental data collection in an optical laboratory environment, LabViewdata acquisition and control system development, and CAD modeling of newhardware assemblies.
Requirements:
Requires a Bachelors, Masters or a PhD in Aerospace Engineering, SystemsEngineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, OpticalEngineering, Engineering Physics, Applied Physics or a related engineeringfiel1+ years: Experience with optomechanics, lasers, and high vacuum systems.1+ years: Academic or professional experience working in a laboratoryenvironment.1+ years: Demonstrated experience in building experimental systems,scientific instruments or engineering test beds.A valid/clear driver's license is required.

Work assignment is in Boulder, Colorado. Must be a U.S. person (i.e.,U.S. citizen, non-U.S. citizen national, lawful permanent resident,asylee, or refugee) due to ITAR work in section.
Job Locations: Boulder, Colorado
Salary Range: $64,459.00 - $131,061.00
