  JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: The Alcohol Policy LegalEpidemiology Research Intern performs vital services and administrativeduties for WisAPP. Working under the direction of the WisAPP staff, thisindividual performs legal research and collects information on alcoholpolicy issues to help create tools for prevention of excessive alcoholuse from a population heath/community safety perspective, with a focuson the impact of alcohol policies on health in Wisconsin. The WisAPPproject specialist will help to develop a database of municipal alcoholregulations and practices in Wisconsin and may draft written contentsuch as policy summaries or memoranda for use in alcohol preventionefforts. This individual must be able to work independently andcollaboratively, manage their time effectively and work with a widerange of professionals and officials from diverse disciplinarybackgrounds and geographic areas, including law enforcement, municipalattorneys, elected officials, municipal administrative staff, universitystaff, and public health specialists. This position will review andcollect municipal ordinances, resolutions, and guidance, will helporganize and facilitate key stakeholder interviews, and will helpcollect and code verbal and written information on alcohol preventionefforts, local alcohol issues, and alcohol enforcement in Wisconsin. Theposition may require some occasional travel within Wisconsin toMilwaukee. Primary Functions Conduct legal research on Wisconsin alcoholpolicies as directed. Conduct research on and analyze the implementationof alcohol regulation and related law enforcement policies as requested.Assist with field and/or policy research regarding municipal alcoholpolicies, issues and attitudes related to alcohol beverages, andenforcement practices. Assist with various aspects of key informantinterviews such as subject recruitment, correspondence with subjects andpotential subjects, organization, logistics, and recording, andtranscribing key informant interviews. Code results from key informantinterviews Enter collected information into a database and reviewinformation for accuracy. A valid driver\' license is required as sometravel will be necessary to Milwaukee. Knowledge - Skills - AbilitiesKnowledge of Wisconsin state, municipal, and/or public health law,experience reading and interpreting Wisconsin statutes or localordinances, and ability to read and understand statutes, ordinances, andregulations An interest in participating in public health efforts toprevent or reduce excessive drinking. Experience with Excel, MicrosoftOffice, and remote working...
