This job requires a minimum of 6 months experienceworking with John Deere combines, tractors and grain carts. Applicantsmust be able to furnish verbal or written statement establishingrelevant prior work experience. Workers must be able to perform all workactivities with accuracy and efficiency. Saturday work required. Must beable to lift/carry 60 lbs. Employer-paid pre-employment and post-hiredrug testing, DOT physical, background check, motor vehicle recordscheck required. Must have or be able to obtain a valid CDL with airbrake and double/triple endorsements to permit driving of trucks within30 days of hire. Must be able to pass test for said licenses in thelanguage administered. Verbal and written proficiency in Englishrequired.
Crops/Commodities:
corn, wheat, potatoes, alfalfa/beans.
Drive tractors and balers, and operate other mechanized farm equipmentto plant, cultivate, and harvest crops. Perform manual and mechanizedtasks including but not limited to: bushhogging fields; disking;aerating; seeding (using mechanical drills and seeders); fertilizing,weed spraying, mowing, tedding, raking, baling, and stacking.
Operate grain carts.
Operate self-propelled custom class harvesting machines to harvest avariety of grain, grass and oilseed crops.
Worker will drive semi tractor-trailer truck to/from specifieddestinations; maneuver trucks into and out of loading and unloadingpositions. Service machinery, trucks and trailers. Make in-fieldrepairs. Must be able to operate, maintain and repair agriculturalequipment with or without direction. Employer will provide, at no costto
workers, an effective means of communicating in an emergency, which mayinclude but is not limited to a satellite phone, cell phone, wirelessdevice, radio transmitter, or other electronic device effective in theentire geographic area where work will be performed.
Mow, cut, and weed fields. Prepare and/or clear land for planting usingmechanized or hand equipment to remove trash, rocks, or other debris ormaterial that may interfere with planting or harvesting activities.Level land by moving dirt and other materials. Equipment may includetractors, dozers, planters, mowers, plows, sprayers, cultivators, powershears, chainsaws, bobcats, skid loaders, high lifts, and trucks orother vehicles. Pickup/deliver materials and load/unload products.
Manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms onmachinery. Adjust speeds of cutters, blowers, and conveyors and heightof cutting head. Clean, adjust, repair, and perform routine service onequipment (e.g., lubricating grease points, inspecting and maintainingfluid levels, checking belt and conveyor tensions, and maintainingtires, wheels, bearings, belts, and other wear parts). Repair or replacedefective parts. Attach farm implements (e.g., plows, harrows, discs,sprayers) using hand tools. May assist with other general farmmaintenance or repairs.
Install/maintain irrigation systems and water lines. Move and installirrigation pipes and equipment. Dig and maintain ditches. Install andremove levee gates.
Apply pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and other crop protectants.Apply fertilizers, plant growth chemicals, conditioners, and other plantrelated treatments at the correct times depending on plant type, growth,climate and crop conditions.
Workers must operate all equipment properly and in a manner thatprotects operator, others, the employer\'s products and property.Failure to comply with safety requirements and operating instructionsmay result in disciplinary action up to and including immediatetermination.
Must wear assigned personal protective equipment when required. Mustreport for work daily wearing work clothing and boots or ther durablefoot wear. Workers wearing clothing inappropriate for work will not bepermitted to start work.
Outdoor work required when plants are wet, or during light rain, snow,moderate winds, direct sun, high humidity and extreme temperatures.Temperatures in fields during working hours may vary. Workers may berequired to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stopfield operations. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod,
honey bees, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, or related chemicalsmay affect a worker\'s ability to perform the job. Work is done outdoorsfor long periods of time and requires prolonged periods of standingand/or walking, repetitive movements, and frequent bending and/orstooping. Workers must be able to handle, lift, and carry heavy or bulkyobjects (product, containers) in accordance with the specified liftingrequirements.
